Why do you put such faith in a company that allows itself open to these simple attacks.
Well.. I have exhausted all my hatred for these scum of the world. This started as attacking Sony's gaming division why move on to other things. Sony is really big in the movie and music industry, I just ask don't ruin everything because in your mind you feel obligated to be bored and punish a company for what it has already learned. These are the worse type of people. This isn't even logical at this moment.
I question your sanity and the bad parenting that went into mom and dad telling you it was okay to steal things that wasn't yours.
I'll get the hate because I'm upset at them and will once again use the verbal gymnastics needed to show that Sony is some evil empire. Why no go hack the bias news in the united states that lie to the american people everyday...

Now don't get bent out of shape, but exactly why do you say that they are being punished for what they already learned? Are you implying that sony learned anything from this fiasco? The very fact that they STILL had unencrypted data on their servers points to quite the opposite.
I won't tell you hackers are knights of justice, jedis, or freedom fighters, but the more defend sony's ineptitude the less they will be motivated to actually change. If you want to blame the hackers, sure go ahead, but don't let sony off the hook. They make billions of dollars, the least they could do is have some proper security... more so after all that's happened.
I'll get the hate because I'm upset at them and will once again use the verbal gymnastics needed to show that Sony is some evil empire. Why no go hack the bias news in the united states that lie to the american people everyday...
LOL how can I hate someone with such verbal gymnastics? I will say one thing, I completely disagree with your view of going after the bigger fish, or things that you consider more important. As an example, a few months ago a co-workers aunt died, so a few of us decided to round up some collections to help out with the expenses of the burial and such since we knew that he wasn't in the best of financial situations and it fell on him and his family to take care of things. Now we asked this one "person" and her response was "Well what about such and such? his grandmother died, why didn't you make a collection for her? I don't agree with this we should treat everybody the same" and with that she declined to help out. She knew enough about the girl she was supposedly defending, that she didn't know that we did give her money, but she refused it because she didn't need it, and said she'd feel guilty about taking it knowing that.

how can Sony and its fans excuse them for this lack of responsibility?

1) Any lose sony takes on gets pased on to its customers.

Absolutely not true, ms still has to compete with nintendo... who just in case you forgot are, despite everything we say, #1 in sales this gen.
I'm more for competition than a lot of people here, but that doesn't mean I believe a company should be given a free pass. As I said in another thread, gaming is big business, and if sony blesses us with their exit from the industry many will be more than happy to take their place... sadly, as was pointed out one of the strongest contenders is Apple, which I admit probably won't be an ideal trade, but hey change is good.

sadly, as was pointed out one of the strongest contenders is Apple, which I admit probably won't be an ideal trade, but hey change is good.change has altered the biz when it got stale. WSometimes for good and sometimes its just like wtf. atari jaguar and neogeo where 2 wtf consoles.
intelivision vs Atari 2600- 7800 vs com 64 vs colecovision
enter sega and Nintendo
then Nintendo vs Sega vs atari vs Sony vs (who ever made 3DO)
Then Nintendo vs Sony vs Microsoft (at which case Microsoft almost bought out Nintendo, but opted instead to create the orig xbox)
Not accurate but its a idea of how gaming has changed and companies have came and went. But im getting off topic.
msanchez
06-02-2011, 07:50 PM
Panasonic made the 3DO... great company, but I rather they stay away from gaming because their prices are for gaming related things are just... how can I put it? they make sony's prices seem like something out of a .99 cent store.
And I wouldn't know if I would call the NeoGeo a wtf console. Actually yes I agree, as a home console it was truly a major WTF?!, but to this day the arcade platform is one that I hold dear. Probably the biggest impression I've had from a fighting game was the first time I played Garou: Mark of Wolves, which I originally played in an arcade machine... so what if Grant is a total Akuma rip-off both characters defy the coolness meter.
Anyways, I don't think gamers would/should have been as concerned with the either the return, or initial foray of those companies, as we should be with the prospect apple joins the fun on home consoles. Over the years, it's pretty obvious to me that apple re-invent the wheel and dumb things down. Watch how if apple makes a console in 3 months people will be saying apple invented home consoles, joypads, analog sticks, buttons, etc, etc. And God be with you if you plan to say otherwise.

After a whole month of shutdown for internet security patch, this news really slaps Sony right on face and proves how efficiency Sony is.
Think this way, if your home is the only one without any home security system installed within your block, you shouldn't complain why the burglar always pick on your home. Same apply to Sony, if all other companies has tighter network security than Sony, and Sony really should do something other than complain the burglar.

Lucky for gamers this is more the pictures and music side now and not gaming. I know its not much of a bright side, but it is something. Sony just got psn back online. At least that wasnt the target. The bad news is they arent saying they are moving on like they did PBS, so just guessing here, they might hit again and soon.
With PBS they gave the motive. With Sony they havent. Scary no doubt.

Well people refuse to see the facts that Microsoft this gen increased game prices both full price and budget when they had no competition which was reined in when both the wii and ps3 where released. The full price games in shop were £50 up from £40-£45 last gen and the budget up from £20 to £30 but recently more like £25. And the accessory prices are just as bad and then there is the whole mess of pay to play and dlc they brought to console gaming that costs. So I agree completely.

These people are pure comedy. A few weeks back a friend pointed out a data leak concerning x-factor contestants, it turns out this same group is responsible so no doubt they have their credibility. It appears they're leaking data all over their own website :D
While I am at it just wanted to mention the SOE compensation package and how bad it is. They obtained my data without permission by buying out dying mmorpgs and copying their databases. I thought companies are meant to ask for permission when transferring data like that?

I wasn't aware nintendo had stopped making consoles. Kids to day seem to ignore nintendo as a player int he same league as Sony and MS, it's just this gen that they have not produced a console with same oomph, they instead went a different route which paid off. MS have a far more wiley competitor in Nintendo.
As for games getting more expensive, do you honestly think MS makes all the games, no their are different publishers all competing with each other, so no game prices wouldn't be effected even if MS was the only conole maker.

Actually that was RRP which is the same now in many cases, it was the shops and mainly publishers that agreed on the likes of the £50-55 RRP. As for the budget range going up in price, again publishers and stores, in one year how many budget games are going to be released on a new console. It was activision or one of the other publishers that had the price hike. If anything MS have been forcing prices down, admitedly with competition, but no MS did not force prices up. Infact from a new console sales stand point they would have been foolish to do so as they wanted to gain a lead when the PS2 was still king of the hill dirt cheap and had a massive sellection of games from all genres.

But the fact is the budget rrp increased by 50% until a rival brought out a new console so proving my point that Sony missing from the industry would bring higher costs to the consumer as Microsoft can use the higher quality compared to the wii to push its case . Shops choose to price closer to rrp than online shops but the fact is the rrp increased under Microsofts lead into this gen and also the introduction of dlc too on top of pay to play fee's. It would be fair to say that if I buy 10 games a year then the cost of live is £4 per game so add that to the price of a budget game before Sony launched the ps3 and I could pay £33.99 for a budget game that is probably got some dlc attached to it compared to the ps2 £19.99 for the full game at the same time or even now Ps3 budget prices are £19.99 where as 360 are between £19.99 and £24.99 but don't forget to add the live cost on too. All adds up to higher game prices to me from Microsoft that would be worse without a rival like Sony who are sharing alot of the titles.

Thats just a single next gen console onthe market with the retailers and publishers trying to cash in, if the next Nintendo console launches first as expected, expect the same. That said, it hasn't effected the handheld market in the same way, for a long time nintendo were the only horse inthe race and the prices stayed pretty steady.
Nintendo can more than make up the competition against MS, and lets face it appart form this gen where they took a different route to that of pure power, (tho i can see why they skimped onthe power side of things, had the wii been a flop they would have lost a lot more than from a GCx2 with motion control) I would not be suprised if next gen they are back in the power pushing race as they have been every other gen.
I would not like to see Sony pull out of the race, but I don't think their departure would be the big deal everyone thinks it would be, 2 competing console makers can keep the competition going as has been proven. No denying one console maker would be bad, tho again not as bad as you would think as publishers and stores still provide the competition and keep prices down, but 2 is as good if not better for the consumer than 3. Infact the only thing 3+ consoles does for the consimer is reduce exclusives, as to get the sales developers/publishers need to go multiformat or else they get only a small portion of the sales (unless another PS2 happens which i doubt will happen next gen at the very least).
Anyway I doubt any of this will stop Sony from producing another console, lets face it with all the competition on the other fronts and no Walkman or pocket radio's to keep them in public eye, they can't afford to loose probably their only remaining household name product. So the hacking will continue but so will the PS brand, but even if they do it won't effect things in the long term so long as there are at least 2 big name competitors in the race
On a side note, I paid £50 for Strider on the megadrive, and £45 for Mickeys Castle of Illusion, that was around 20 years ago, so if anything the price of games have gone down in price (not a justification as the price hikes this gen have just been atempts to cash in by publishers, but does go to show when take in perspective game prices have been frozen for years).

Damn straight, what the hell is this company doing? Fair enough if it's one attack out of the blue but they know they're under constant attack/scrutiny and yet they're not lifted a finger to investigate or enhance security.
When you know that most of your websites suffer from the same simple flaw (12 so far) which was originally identified and abused by hackers, isn't that the time to take things down and run a full scale investigation? Sony is just being careless.. there's no good in acting after an event takes place.

What DEDDOA said, plus... really the only accessories that have ridiculous pricing are the HDDs and the wifi adapter, everything else is equally priced with sony's accessories... which are priced at just about the same level they've always been priced, more so if you consider inflation and such. As far as paying for online play... I would have agreed with you that it's a bane in the gaming industrie's existence, but given recent events, I'm sure many would have preferred it if sony charged $100 a year for PSN access.
