This is why the log in lockout system is a must for all websites.
Being hacked through Bruteforce looks really bad that you would let them do a random or dictionary attack just like that, without noticing that its happening.
ps... the new Post Comment GUI is pretty but it formats all separate sentences as one paragraph on the first posting. ;)
ps... the emoticons don't work.

This is a bad sign. I don't belive that an escalation in this way was possible.

lol...yeah, GO HACKERS! Does everyone love the hackers as much now that it is not just "big bad Sony" that they are attacking? Is everyone still cheering them on?
I just love how everyone was "rooting for" the hackers and saying "yeah, Go Hackers! Take down the big corporation! Sony sucks! F*** Sony, I hope the hackers win!" Yet, now what do those same people think when the same hackers are attacking OTHER companies like Epic Games and Codemasters and others and making off with Usernames and Passwords and other account information from THOSE sites...

I dunno, kinda predictable it you ask me. There has been some hackers mad at lulzsec and i dont remember seeing lulz claim this attack. So if its not lulz then who is it? But sony fanboys, got their panties in a bunch over hackers like anon and started attacking them. Trying to flood them and knock their irc offline. Then people wondered why sony got attacked again. Then the fans went and asked lulz to attack nintendo or microsoft instead of sony. Once again. more questions.
Why did they attack nintendo and help them fix the exploit? Vs what happened to sony. My point is we get so little of the picture we dont know the reasons for why or who gets attacked and stuff. But we do know sony went to war with hackers and sony took for granted that real hackers kinda left gaming and stuff alone. Until now. But i bet no Nintendo fans went trying to attack hackers over this. In which case lulz helped its customers and Nintendo by exposing a weakness in security.
So Nintendo now has better security and customers have a better chance of not having their info stolen by real malicious hackers.
But when the story broke "3 psn hackers caught" people where posting all over the net stuff like "i hope the get ***** in jail". Well come to find out they didnt get any lulz people and they are still doing stuff for lulz. So gamers trying to piss them off might no be a worth while move. Im not shocked though.
Hackers have always been out there. They are always gonna be out there. Oh and another thing. People say hackers are gonna force internet change? Really???... no they will be just another excuse for them to. But if hackers did nothing they would do it anyways and find another excuse. People should read the eff site. They are always talking about net changes music companies and movie companies are trying to get done, and phone makers are always trying to get laws changed also. It sucks peoples real info gets out there. But it is out there.
Most people are joining sites like myspace, facebook and every other social network thing in the world just giving the info away. But they take for granted the info is safe. If it wasnt for hackers who let us know they hacked stuff, the companies would lie and down play stuff and hackers would get away with it, companies would lie about it to cover it up and we would all be lored in to a false sense of security.
There is a reason banks have vaults!!!! When people figure out that even banks are crooked. They they understand kinda how the internet works. But some hackers are at war with others and are planting false info to set other people up. But we as users believe everything we are told. Like anon hacked sony because they found a note saying it was anon. Not giving 2 thoughts that it may not be. People went raging.

This is going well, hackers around the world must have my email about 20 times by now lol. I just don't understand the point, I haven't from the start, Sony hacking wasn't justified, and these random attacks on just any gaming website to steal information is just as sad. The biggest problem with hacking Epic is the fact a lot of gaming professionals, developers, students becoming developers, and universities all deal with Epic for their Unreal Engine. Attack them, and you attack the whole of the gaming industry in one hit, no idea if thats the intention of the hackers, to try and stop any decent games being released, because the talent has had enough of their details being splattered across the internet, but if it is well done.

While I admit that Codemasters, and even more so Epic were surprises to me... I'm still having my LOLS on account of all this. In fact, please continue blaming hackers for everything, it's working out so well for everybody LOL!
Do I agree with the hacking of the previously mentioned companies? No, if they would have asked me I would have asked them reaaaaaaaaaal nicely to pick other targets *HINT*Activision, Ubisoft*HINT*, but the fact is that despite what we say we won't change their minds, so the only ones we can ask to beef up their security and maybe prevent these things are the companies that make millions of dollars.
We all need to come back down to earth and face reality, security is necessary because hackers exist, and hackers will not go anywhere, they will always be there, and so to think that saying bad things about them, calling them names, and wishing for them to go to jail to get ***** (repressed homosexual tendencies?) will change anything is stupid at best, delusional at worst.
It's sad, but sony has apparently dragged the entire gaming industry into a war that only sony started. I still crack up at the SDF members that actually thought taking geohot to court and raiding grafs house would be a deterrent to other hackers, LOL! these guys are aware they are braking laws, and will probably look at someone who was caught as not being "l33t" enough.
In any case, carry on, continue to only blame hackers and feel sorry for the multibillion dollar corporations, I'm sure that despite this stance failing repeatedly it will work out at some point.... :D

Hacking is nothing new. Thats the thing. Its not a matter of what hackers do. They have been doing it forever. Its just the gaming world was blind to it. I was here back when sega first went online with its netlink adapter and hackers where there. Nukes where there. DOS attacks where there.
These attacks taught gamers about how unsafe it is online. They showed companies how unsecured they really are. Sometimes people have to learn from mistakes. People took online for granted. Millions of people learned not to make that mistake again. Sony learned not to goto wars just because you can afford good lawyers. Sony learned just how valuable consumer info is. Hackers just showed nintendo and bring game devs mistakes in their networks and gave them chance to fix them.
People can look at the glass as half full or half empty. In either case. Its a history making time in gaming. We the gamers are just caught in the cross fire between hackers and big corporations. But how many people got identy theft or credit card fraud because of what happened? Thats a credit to the hackers. Because there is hackers out there that would not care and hack for money. You may think nothing good has came out of any of this. But there actually is. Im not saying sony going to war with hackers was a smart idea, nor am i saying hackers fighting back the way they have is. Im saying it is what it is and we the gamers should learn from it. The internet has never been for the timid and its never been 100% safe and never will be. But then again big companies dont care about us the gamers either, they just care about making sure we buy their products.
But thanks to lulzsec. There is millions of parent out there who learned from this. There is laws waiting to be passed to hold these companies liable for not securing our data. We also know we cant trust companies to be honest with us when explaining what has happened when they do get hacked.
Many people here said it was dumb for sony to goto war with hackers. It wasnt they supported piracy or what ever hackers where doing. But they know going to war with hackers usually is not a good idea. People here also said "there is a reason why sony is the target of these attacks and not Microsoft or Nintendo". Its been clear from the hackers. They didnt wanna hurt Nintendo and Microsoft deals with hackers on a way larger scale and has been for years. People saying this was not for any other reason than they been around the net long enough to know hackers hack and when provoked they will come hard.
Also lulzsec could be total jerks with what they take. But instead they gave some companies time to fix their networks. Like brink. People think they are all random. I personally think there is a method to their madness. We may not know what it is or why they are doing what they are doing. But i dont think its random. But you can bet every single company with online servers is talking about it and probably getting upgrades because of it.

I still think... 1 day in a few years this will be a movie! maybe even a sony movie. But its gonna be a book and a movie and people will go see it. Its history making events. Since ive been online and thats a long time. Ive never seen anything like this in the gaming world. Yes anon did some crazy stuff. But gaming, i dont recall anything like it.

Hollywood will do absolutely no research and somehow in a turn much like the movie takedown (sometimes called hackers 2), they'll manage to make Howard Stringer meet a hacker in the street before he tracks him down in a van and arrests him.
You know it's going to happen, You know it's going to be so bad it's good :D

Stringer drive a van? The writers must be very generous then... Personally I can only imagine him saying "I don't understand why I'm driving... why am I following that guy?... I just don't understand any of it"

Does that count as being rickrolled TD? I mean I knew what would happen when I pressed play LOL!
On a side note, I loved 80's music (yeah even Ricky boy)... but THANK GOD that decade is over. The stuff people wore, the way they talked... and what the hell was up with the flat chicks? was that in? I was too young to be interested then.

If you clicked it you got LULZ LOLLED apparently. I honestly don't remember much of the 80s... there's one look that has always stood the test of time.. the I found a t-shirt under my bed and jeans look. As long as the t-shirt does not state any specific love for the movie E.T. The Extra-terrestrial I think you'll be okay.
