Developers behind the 'True Blue' dongle have released an update that removes the need of 'special' BD-R discs and now allows all v3.6+ PS3 'backups' to play perfectly when stored on a HDD on your PS3

After much research and many hard long days at coding, the solid support team behind the 'True Blue' dongle have now been able to encode all the needed booting information which was previously needed on 'special' BD-R discs, to be included in the dongle's firmware memory, so now v3.6+ games will run correctly when also stored on your PS3 HDD.

Now with this latest firmware update the dongle fully supports booting of all v3.6+ 'backups' to from PS3 HDD using existing 'backup managers' which the end-user will choose to install, making 'True Blue' dongle one of the most affordable ways to enjoy both your Jailbreak-able PS3 console and still play latest v3.6+ games on your v3.55 PS3 console.

Here is list of v3.6+ games that have been confirmed working or will be when released:

As some of you have noticed the above game titles list posted earlier by me contains some 'games' which are not pubicaly available yet, but the coders behind 'True Blue' have already confirmed, that these games will work based on certain 'key' information, but remember nothing is 100% but as you already see the developers are listening on the forums and supporting the needs of the end-us that is why I stated earlier there is 'solid support team' behind this product even tho it is 'commercial' it is build for the 'scene' and priced to be affordable and to be updated so fast so early since the first JB2 news broke, it shows that it indeed has strength!

I have been informed that all 'pre-orders' units are currently being 're-programmed' at the factory to support these new features directly out of the box, and we will be posting updated videos and a list of 'resellers' with stock from the first production run, and more information on 'True Blue' thru-out the week as it comes across my Maxconsole news desk.

Good, but need a ps3 with 3.55 firmware. No they are very rare. Play games from bluray, is a good thing, but burners and bluray disk aren't so economics. Would be nice if it work on lastest ps3 firmware.

Blu-ray burners are very cheap now, it's just the discs that need to come down in price.
I picked up an x6 blu-ray burner not long ago for $60AUD
Discs here are $60 for a 5 pack of DL 50GB discs
and $30 for a 10 pack of SL 25GB discs

So, how do you reckon those games that aren't out yet got to be "confirmed working"?

i paid under £35 for my 8x br burner (an lg) and my br discs cost less than £10 depending on where i buy them.

tesco outlet on ebay, own brand in slim jewel cases 2x 5 packs bd-r25 = £8.95
play.com traxdata bd-r 25 10 pack in a mini tub = £9.90 (varies by a few pence)

most ps3 games would not require a bd-50 disc.

Less then 12 hours later, dongle been updated again, no need for blu-ray burner, your choice depending on your needs, games can be stored on the HDD now also.

now we are talking, time to buy ANOTHER big hdd i think :D

not long now....

ps gary, did anyone make progress on the ps2 problem? i miss not being able to run ps2 games now my 3.15 is boxed up and packed away. i know cobra did something but i really dont want to buy another dongle i already have an utterly useless ps3break (v1.1) that never ever worked on my 3.15 (now kept to revert to 3.41 if i ever need to) and one of those ps3 cheat dongles (an offline action replay type thing), who knows maybe i'll reconsider once this new dongle is compatible with rebug (or better yet reversed and included).

I think I'll wait and see on a software solution turns up, I doubt it will at this point but I have no worries with waiting.

On a side note anyone know if a 1GB or 1.5GB HDD will work on the PS3, I know 2TB won't as I bought 2, one for the 360 and one for the PS3 but the PS3 won't do squat with it (I use an icy box and a esata to sata adapter), so had to use a spare 500GB which works fine and still has a fair bit of space, but I would like to have at least a TB to play it safe.

i'll assume you meant 1tb or 1.5tb since a 1gb hdd would be a little pointless ;)

i've got a 1tb external in a usb 2 caddy formatted using swissknife (free) to fat 32 and its full of sony payback so it does work, how did you format your 2tb drive? i believe that swissknife will format upto 2tb as fat 32.

Aye TB, what can I say it was late and I was half asleep :)

I have no probs getting an external to work via USB, it's the external via internal sata connector so that there are no big file issues, not to mention so that it speed the system up a tad, that I had the problem with for 2TB. the 500GB I have in there at the mo is fine for now, but would be handy to have somthing larger if the homebrew scence picks up pace at some point. I had a bit of a nose around on the web this morning and found that 1TB 2.5" drives definetly work, so I am assuming thats the case for the 3.5" as well, I have a few 1TB drives knocking around so I'll give that a try.

1tb will work. 1.5 will not.

we'll see a clone of this dongle in no time.

for big files i use karmain ps3 splitter and store them on my external, multuman re assembles them and moves them to the internal on first run, takes a while but saves on total internal space used.

Nice one, will have to give that try, I can stick with the 500 then as it speeds stuff up and will be plenty of space and get a 1-2TB external should the need arise :)

Aye I was beginning to suspect that it had some sort of artificial cap, tho seems odd that the PS3 would have one wheras the 360 does not (or at least a 2TB drive works perfectly fine on it via the internal connector) given it's great felexibilty with internal storage over the 360's MS only drives. I guess MS don't have to worry as even if you get a massive drive in there they won't let you use it and go on XBL without being banned, an idiotic practive if you ask me, I somtimes think from time to time that the power light is actually an apple logo given how restrictive MS is with it :D

am i the only one who isnt falling for yet another plastic piece of cr@p which will likely be blocked with another FW update, and actually has 2 ps3 consoles, one for ahem free games and the other to actually buy the games i want to play but cant be hacked.

or shall i sit and moan each time sony rightfully does a update to block these pirate devices, trying to ensure its game devs arent subjected to cheap skates..

the point is these work on the ps3's that play copies but allow all the stuff that cant be played at present so someone wanting to play the latest games (without paying for them) can use this or wait to see if it can be reversed.
