Team Cobra has released another new firmware update for their Cobra-USB dongle, along with a very improved version of mmCM (aka) multiMAN Cobra Edition for all their happy users!

The main new feature of the v4.3 firmware update is the fact that games that need the BD-MIRROR function will now work correctly when playing them from either EXTERNAL USB or INTERNAL HDD devices.

Dec. 7th, 2011 - v4.3 - Changelog:
Increased the compatibility of games in JB directory format (fix for the so called black screen games, that were only working in iso format).
In Cobra USB, you don't need to set any special option or key combination in multiman for these games to work, just start them normally.
Unlike in regular CFW, in Cobra USB these games work also in internal hdd.
At the request of customers, vsh.self of Cobra USB CFW can now be replaced by the ReactPSN one (only by the one of 3.55k folder) without loosing any Cobra functionality.

As for the mmCM changes, it is amazing number of improvements, the Cobra team has been really able to build alot of new functions into the old multiMAN for Cobra users, and here is list of them all:

Multiman for Cobra 03.01.00 changelog:
Improved loading of PSP ISO files when no disc is inserted
Added option "Detect Game Title in ISO Images" to allow using ISO filenames and *not* scan for game names in local database
Improved scanning for retro roms/iso and covers (populating the Retro column)
Support for ICON0.PNG for PSP ISO in Retro column
Support for cover art for PS2 ISO/CUE+BIN in Retro column* Support for cover art for PSX CUE+BIN in Retro column and for PSX discs
New THEME format (.thm). One theme - one file. Easy installation within mmCM without going to XMB to install theme pkg files.
mmTM - Easy to use PC application to create thm files from folders (separate download).
mmCM will try to read disc volume labels and display in VIDEO column (BD/DVD entry) and in other display modes.
>>> ISO images created from such discs (BD/DVD/AVCHD) will get the disc volume label as file name for the ISO.
Fixed extracting ICON0.PNG from PSP ISO images saved on external USB drives* Added indication (rotating refresh icon next to the column icon) when mmCM is loading/extracting title thumbnails (XMMB mode)
Added support for PSX/PS2/PSP covers when browsing drives/folders in Retro column
Added pop-up notifications when new versions of mmCM, CobraUSB firmware and Showtime are available for download
Added pop-up notification when running low on disc space (less than 1GB on internal HDD)
Added pop-up notification when mmCM successfully connects to nethost folders during startup (/net_host# in File Manager)
Added support for downloading themes in a background thread (pop-up messages will notify user when download starts and completes)
Added support for copying big (4+GB) files in File Manager to USB drives. mmCM will split source file when copying to USB.
Added "Copy" function to SIDE menu for BD/DVD/PS2/PSP/PS3 ISO images (supports joining and splitting depending on source and destination drives)
Changed option "Link Video Library to Showtime" - it will only create links for XMB Video files, but will not start Showtime
Added shortcuts to BDISO and DVDISO folders when browsing internal HDD in VIDEO column (shown as "Blu-ray Video (ISO)" and "DVD Video (ISO)"
Added support for Blu-ray and DVD covers when browsing drives/folders in VIDEO column (for BD/DVD ISO files)
Added shortcut (virtual folder) "XMB Video Files" when browsing HDD/USB drives in VIDEO column
Easier overall access to BD/DVD/PSX/PS2/PSP/PS3 ISO/BIN images/folders in XMMB and XBDM display modes (when browsing drives/folders)
Added "Showtime Font Preference" option to select 10 different fonts for SHOWTIME media player (GUI and Subtitles)
Added "Extract ISO" option in SIDE menu for PS3 ISO images (to convert ISO games to folder format)

Remember since the last big 'firmware' update, if you have the new mmCM installed it can update both your manager and the dongle firmware! :)

psp and ps2 + lots of updates vs playing a few extra games most of which you can already play on 360.

not really that big a choice

Yeah I have been thinking about getting one, only thing keeping me from doing it is that I just know the week after I get it that CFW what ever is the newest version will hit along with PS2 and PSP compatibility making my purchase worthless.

I heard that Jaicrabs 3.56 has an iso loader now, not sure what 3.56 does that 3.55 does not but meh what ever. Is jaicrabs 3.56 even a true 3.56 and not some hacked version of 3.55?

i dont have a cobra and dont plan on getting one but i just thought that for someone who had both cobra and tb then cobra offers more to play with.

i thought that jaicrab was a fake?

Well it is real but the laundry list of stuff it was supposed to do reaaallly got cut back, they dropped that whole fake PSN thing (was supposed to be a clone of the Homebrew Shop thing on the Wii and allow for games to be played P2P over it sort of like SNES over TCP/IP on emulators.) Was supposed to have PS1 and PS2 ISO loading like the Cobra dongle... hmmmm my tin foil hat must be on too tight....

At any rate Jaicrab did release his 3.56 CFW but the only thing it had was the install option and a bunch of cool looking icons and what not. Some one evidently figured out how to add what was missing and release a loader.

I would post a link here to the news but its on a site that offers all kinds of crazy not legal stuff lol

I will PM it to you how ever :)

Edit: Shows how quickly things can change, some one is claiming they have the keys from the 4.0 firmware and its now possible to do a CFW for it.

How true it is, I cannot say but they have released some sort of .self file and some other info that makes it sound legit.

Edit 2: Might be a bit more truth this then I thought, 5 hours ago as of this posting Math gave KaKaRoTo some information that is rumored to the signing algorithm for 3.7+ firmwares. So now supposedly there is an exploit for 4.0 and homebrew will run on it.

yeah i totally agree with you. why forfeit losing my ps1, ps2 and psp playback ability. i will stick with my cobra. i think i will just pass this TB onto my brother, i have an original 60gb phat, so i have backwards compatibility, he has the newer slim ps3 and really only supports ps1 backups out of the box.

hell he'll enjoy the TB i think...

when are they translating these payloads to one of the chips used to hack the ps3 in the earlier days of its hacking? I don't have true blue nor cobra. what are my options?
