Reason: Some games will required you to purchase a 'memory card' to use them fully!

Another way to sell their costly PS Vita 'memory cards' <OR> Another way to use more customers in the portable Gaming Market. As Sony has decided you need accessories right away off the shelf to play!
Sony has confirmed that the $249 PS Vita will be UNABLE to play the following titles out of the box:
@field
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Dream Club Zero
Disgaea 3
Hot Shots Golf 6
Monster Raider
Ridge Racer
For all of those games to run you MUST buy an add on memory card as they will be unable to save to their own carts.
Why does Nintendo include a memory card when it really is optional (all retail games save to their own carts) yet Sony omits one when its an absolute requirement if you want to play their biggest launch titles?

Our thanks to 'billysastard' for pointing out to us the way Sony is promoting their PS Vita (buy buy buy!)

you have got to be kidding? is this a joke? why did sony even mention that their vita games will be able to save to the game cartridges themselves if they won't save with the biggest games the vita has coming out?
i think that if someone was to walk beside sony down the street, you would have to be wearing a "I'm with stupid" tshirt with an arrow pointing towards the sony fellow.

I understand Ridge Racer since its supposed to be a DLC money machine, but the rest on the list hardly seem like they would need DLC, so forcing people to buy a memory card to play the other games seems pretty lame.
Edit: It also makes the Vita more expensive then it looks considering you need to buy a memory card to play these games.
Buying the smallest memory card might be a bad option too, if you like to buy DLC or PSN games that 4GB's is going to be gone way too fast and I suspect some larger downloads will fill it completely in the future.
My recommendation if some one buys a Vita is to bite the bullet and buy the 32GB card it should at least be useful for the life of the system. This of course is ultra expensive but if you want the best your gonna have to pony up the dough.

I hope for their sake that sony package a memory card with the console as in this day and age it's a standard feature in consoles that need them, if not then they are just giving another big FU to early adopters as you ca guarantee that slow sales after the launch burst will make them put a memory card in with later models to help sales.

it is not included unless you pre-order one of those really expensive launch kits and even then its not like its included since you are paying for it with the higher price.
maybe a psv 2000 will have some memory built in (as this should have)

I think me too. 3g model, is a little bit expansive. Tehy could include a small memory.

You know it really makes me wonder if Sony was actually meant to be seppuku but the founder was dyslexic.

if it wasnt, its something that the entire executive level should seriously consider, it could only improve their company.
this vita launch seems to be an unending suicide note for sony that started with....

Its OK by me, this requiring extra accessories to play launch titles.
It'll help sink the Vita.
With Android coming big, there is little reason to by Sonys new consumer-f---ker, so I'll keep *my* pants on and the PS3 looks (increasingly) like the last Sony console I wasted money on :)

makes total sense
why WOULDN'T sony release another gaming device that trojan horses another new format?
you know, all gaming companies are just out to get money. they are all business's we know that. their number 1 objective is to get as much money from you as possible. some companies give you value for your money, some do not. some try to appear as though they care for the consumer, and some do not.
it's obvious, sony doesnt even care about the image of giving you value and this little tidbit just proves it yet again.

Say what you will, Sony. This can not be justifiable under ANY circumstance. The system isn't even out yet, and I can see how big of a failure your sales are going to be. You have potential with this system and you're just adding an unnecessary leash to your consumer base. Congratulations, another product I won't be getting until 5 years down the road. (After Nintendo and maybe even Microsoft release their next best thing) Have you learned nothing?

this is pretty bad considering i cant see game (not that ill ever order off them again after taking £100 for my GOW3 pro-order and then cancelled it yet had to wait over a month to get refunded) offering a vita package with a memory card.

you might be right, game do seem to like making packages of stuff that you dont need whilst omitting stuff you do so several psv + game(s) + a box of useless crap (cheap quality but expensive screen protectors and game cases etc) just like they do with the advertbox 360 selling it with games that arent worth sh1t unless you are online but not adding live gold into the bundle.

Lol, these are epic fails. The first i didnt even recall. But the second i paid very much attention to when it actually happened. That's why i never buy **** when it launches. Once its at a reasonable price at the pawn shop. I buy it.

Got the Vita this morning.
The wait time was not bad at all - only about half an hour.
They had plenty of extra consoles in stock. Uploading videos of setup and such now.
