Already just 2 days after the big Japanese Launch of the new 'PS Vita' platform, problem reports are flowing in!

Hopefully these problems can be fixed by 'firmware' update, but is sad that users are already finding many issues with the 'PS Vita' after spending their hard-earned dollars on it in Japan!

Whenever new hardware launches, whatever it is, there are problems.

The PS Vita is new hardware, and while I haven’t experienced any hardware issues, others have.

These are just some of them collected from various sites and forums:

One of the first 'problem reports', is that many games are turning off the WiFi stopping any communication or social updates and messages, plus WiFi is programmed to go 'auto off' after 5 mins on desktop also cutting off communication!

Hopefully, yet another firmware update will fix those, but the next report looks alot harder to solve by just firmware!
The biggest problem, is when your 'PS Vita' system locks up, there is no RESET or way to turn it off, you have to wait until the power drains, as the battery is internal preventing its removal!

According to YouTube videos, there are some machines experiencing these lock-ups and freezing.

One error appears to occur during the System Update, which then freezes.

Another issue seems to be a non-responsive touch screen.

It’s still early in the hardware’s launch cycle, so it’s difficult to discern how widespread the issue is.

Pro-gamer Kiryu Tsukimiya tweeted that he’s soon experienced it.

Hard earned yen? hehehe just kidding, money is money.

Sony will probably repair or replace these units, like they did the PS2's when they launched with some messed up parts.

Not sure if all of the issues can be fixed via firmware updates. The unresponsive touch screen sounds like a bad component. Lock ups during updates or games can probably be fixed since those sound like software issues they could also be hardware but that is less likely.

the wifi issue is written into the games, they turn it off for longer battery life

Did Sony launch a device with NO RESET function???
They have obviously gone nuts.
Just as well I am deinvesting from Sony consoles.

(And NO removable batteries) The design seems seedier and seedier for every detail that comes out.

it has 2 reset combos, one by holding the power button, the second by holding 2 other buttons and power, sadly if it locks up the buttons dont work (it happens also on ps3 occasionally but at least on that you can power cycle).

seriously

quality control is out the window here

you telling me they dont have an inhouse testing suite
where they pay people to sit down and play these for hours on end to find any bugs like this

i thought thats what every compnay did

you telling me that their testers did not find any of these problems ??

lol

sony are becoming a joke.

i will only have one of these if its given to me and then and only then will i use it if i can play copied games on it
simples

thats how the world turns now im afraid.

Man, look how he taps on the screen... o_O

Its a Capacitive screen you idiot!!!! Not a resistive!!!

But this seems more like a production line related issue, I've seen similar cases in my job, devices pass test phase in proto mode, but when it goes to production, customers come back with strange problems.

You can't blame the testers, blame the manufacturer! ;-)

Nothing is perfect. We are only on the biginning. Some problem is normal. Ps vita before lauch was tested only from some engineers, now from milion users. The bad thing, I remember this on old psp , when it freezed, short way to resolve was remove battery. Now on psp Vita, this sin't possible...Maybe have to wait a lot of time before shoutdown itself.

a million users? WTF its only shifted 321,000 in total (less than the failed 3ds launch) at this rate its not going to have a million users until its launched in the west.

i also wonder if people are aware that in japan reviewers and well known bloggers were all given a free psv, memory card and games by sony to base their reviews on?
