10 Days After Release of PS Vita, First Major System Update
http://www.maxconsole.com/maxconsole/contents/RKSID00000000000000000410/icon_xl.jpg
And like always Sony is living up to their name, with this update being 'forced' in more so then on the PS3, you can't even access your 'content' until you agree to update the system!
It has not been long on the market, and already we have a 'major' system update for the 'PS Vita' console.
Of course nothing really been changed with 'Sony' stating the usual 'improved the symptons of the software', whereas the truth is of course to block the new 'Hello World' which has been confirmed and work was already started on making an 'HomeBrew Loader' using the PSP 'save exploit' with their 'sandbox PSP emulator'.
Now to make matters even worse, PSP homebrew developer Wololo has discovered you can't even using their official tools to access your 'PS Vita' content on your PC to transfer media, etc. no longer now that the update is out, you have to be 'online' to use them, and of course no other option but to UPDATE is allowed!
Today as I was using the PS Vita "content manager" in order to copy some files to the PS Vita, the content manager refused to start until I updated my firmware to official update 1.510. (This literally happened 10 minutes ago)
What surprises me is that the vita was disconnected, so I am assuming the update order came from the client on my PC (Update: confirmed. And the Vita refuses to run the content manager if the PC is not connected to the net).
More information about Sony as usual horrible tactics when it comes to controlling their system can be found at the source links below!
NEWS SOURCES: PS Vita v1.51 (via) Wololo's Blog (http://wololo.net/wagic/2011/12/27/ps-vita-compulsory-system-update-1-510/) and PS3Hax.net (http://www.ps3hax.net/2011/12/ps-vita-firmware-update-1-51/)
Our thanks to 'PS3HAX' for digging up the dirt on this crazy as usual Sony, and for cute news story picture!

wait wait wait. your data is basically gone until you update? hah. does sony want another lawsuit?
its starting to sound like if your vita bricks, everything is gone too despite being on a portable card.

wow, sony just too "fcuk you" to a whole new level, if anyone was stupid enough to still be considering buying one of these overpriced bombs this should be the wake up call.
just think, if (when) they remove a feature you use (or one that you paid for in the purchase price) you wont even have the "choice" of keeping that feature or losing pretty much everything else, now you will just loose everything, who needs illegal eula's when you can just **** your customers without one.
the big question should be "is this the signature on the suicide note" or will sony find even more ways to tell people "dont buy this ****"

Well, I for one think that updates should always be forced. People should never stay with old and unpatched software.

thats fine for software but if a company wants to control the hardware we PAID for thats another matter, if they want that control then let them buy the hardware for us and give it away or rent / lease it

Well, I for one think that updates should always be forced. People should never stay with old and unpatched software.
Because at Sony, their motto is "addition through subtraction in our firmware". A firmware update from Sony is a knee jerk reaction to the security (lack thereof) in their consoles 9 times out of 10. You ever read the term you agree to with these forced updates? They aren't responsible if your sh1t craps out on you because of their forced update "to better improve functionality". That gives them free reign to push whatever code they want to your Sony brand console and absolutely no concern if they break its workability in the process. I'm pretty sure they are violating several laws (US as well as other parts of this great gaming world). But, as long as you agree to their terms, it's your ass not theirs. Keep giving up your rights as a consumer so willingly, and you'll be left with nothing.

Same story again..a firmware in one month.

On the whole firmware updating thing, I am very old school when it comes to Firmware or BIOS's.... Meaning you only update when it fixes something you HAVE to have.
I think I updated my Wii 3 times, the first time was to add something or other the middle time was to add SDHC compatibility and the last time was to bring it up to 4.3 for USB stuff and online.
My PS3 I updated 2 times, the first time was that it added more codec support supposedly (I forget what was added but it seemed worth it at the time.) the last time was to get to 3.55 since that got hacked, I figured why not. Might as well experiment on it I don't use it for anything else really.
So the less I have to update a firmware the less chance there is to have a brick due to some **** up. Adding features is all nice and dandy but removal of features should never happen unless its to honestly fix an issue. Removal of a feature because some hack of that feature allows piracy is total BS, fix the hack not remove the feature.
Seems like cutting off some ones leg to because some one found a way to run faster with only one shoe.

fix the hack not remove the feature.
but we see how thats worked for MS and Nintendo??
while leaving the "thing" used to hack, then hackers will just bypass the fix.
i fully agree with consoles having updates to block hacks, i personally think the ones you see crying over it are those who want to pirate but have been blocked.
sure you paid for a product, but the software is licenced to you, while some are blindly one sided and think a company is in the wrong forcing updates, then toss the coin over and think why should i pay for games if a console does nothing to prevent pirates??

Last I checked Sony was still in last place, So I guess it worked out pretty good for Nintendo and Microsoft.

So Big Brother is finally starting to show his real face!
Nearly one year ago, when they started the silly lawsuits against geohot and team failoverflow, I finally decided never to buy anything again if it bears the name "Sony" and every day I'm more happy that I made the decision.

i fail to see that as my 360 can play any game, any patches MS apply gets hacked thus making it wide open to download and play any game, same as my wii (not that id waste time downloading shovel ware games).
but
the ps3 isnt you have to sit and pray hoping someone can make a 3.55 or TB patch for the game but erm not a problem for pirates on a 360 or wii.

i fail to see that.
Well just check out the sales charts for the three respective consoles, you will see it.
Edit: Just to make things a bit more clear, really security is great, but if your console is dead last in the race honestly who cares? These companies are in it to make money period.
To put simply, if your system sells half of what the lead system has sold your not going to make that up with better security.
Theoretically if 50% of Wii owners bought a game and 50% pirate the game, 100% of PS3 owners would have to buy a game to even tie in game sales.... Think about that one for a minute, let it soak in. I honestly doubt 50% of Wii's are hacked so it just gets uglier from that point on. Hell to be frank about it, I doubt 5% of Wii's are hacked.
You need a good install base to sell games, its just that simple and Sony failed to achieve that part.

no what you saw was what access they had on 3.55 which was then completely blocked when sony did futher fw updates.
fact is
pirates have and allways will be stuck on 3.55 cfw, unless this 4.00 JB comes out which again will be blocked going back to square one. But then the cry babies will start off again kicking off when sony within their rights take the hacker leaking the 4.00 CFW.
but the 360/WII everything theyve added patches on the discs or dashboard has simply failed because the hackers just hack the patch, my 360 has had no control on preventing what games i play as a backup all i do is reflash the drive, but hmm not as simple on the PS3.
ps3 you have to wait IF a game can be patched to work on 3.55
360 flash the new fw bypassing the patch (what you claim sony should have done) i have 100% to anygame i choose.

once again you show your utter stupidity.
the first hacks on the wii were drive hacks, nintendo fixed that, after that came game hacks, nintendo fixed them too, then came bannerbomb, nintendo fixed that as well, then more 3rd party software exploits and letterbomb (both unfixed at the moment, maybe nintendo wont bother until wii-u launch)
the 360 hacks (except 2) have all been drive hacks, ms have changed the hardware but c4eva seems to be just too good what should they have done? removed the drive so you couldnt load anything just to prevent piracy? the other hacks were the jtag hack (fixed very quickly and still not rehacked) and the new rgh which is still in its infancy so might be wise for ms to hold off to see where it leads before attempting to shut it down.
btw the rgh is a 360 version of geohots original ps3 hack, and its been done without other os at all so i guess that if sony ever manage to fix the cfw / eboot problems they are still open to either an rgh of their own or a drive hack.

stupidity erm the "thing" was refering to other os, but i didnt bring it up because youd start spouting, if sony did a patch to other os, while leaving other os on the ps3 it would have been bypassed and hacks would have been far easier to do.
fact is out of the 3 systems the ps3 you cant play any game from a backup, which seems fw updates have more control over simple patches, i can proves this by been able to play any copy i like on my 360 and wii (if the wii had games worth playing) yet my ps3 cant.
but i dont cry at sony over this, which i see many people in forums kicking off over sony because theyve downloaded a game and cant play it.

I've only seen one person talk about pirating and that's YOU. Boasting about playing copies on your hacked 360. They are copies and NOT backups because I doubt you buy anything from the PS3's competition. You are a fuck1ng hypocritical tool. Please leave these forums and never return. You'll be doing us all a favor.

ha ha erm maybe this is hard for the sony hating fanboys here to understand, i actually play my 360 just as much as my ps3, if you care to notice all sony related news is negative and 90% posted by a certain user who chats 90% crap claiming consumer rights/laws ect everything he says is gosbell if you say different its bs.
read all my comments youll find i defend any console acting upon hackers, how the console choses to do so is upto them, at least i have the balls to admit to playing copies, but im not going to cry each time sony for example (this topic) releases a manditory update to fix a flaw that hackers will take advantage of.
now please go back and re sillybastards comments, this guy fails to even notice, the product YOU buy, the SOFTWARE is licenced to you, features offered by sony are subjected to the terms set, you chose not to accept the terms, its your problem, sillybastard doesnt notice that even MS if you chose not to update your signed out of live or a certain game wont play unless the update detects hacks.
my point all along is, open your fanboy eyes, stop soley blaming one company for everything, because you will find MS and Nintendo do it, and reason i ask of this is because he does sound like a sad fanboy blaming sony for everything, i think sillybastard put more effort into looking for a job rather than looking for his fix of negative sony news....... if vita doesnt sell sh1t hot in japan..... WHO CARES!! start posting cr@p for the console you do love, or just ban the sony section all together or call the site 360/WII FANBOYCLUB because anyone who isnt hating sony, is told to F'oFF.

I was wondering what happened to him lol
You know I told him the same thing, post some good Sony news!
I would love to hear how Sony hasn't screwed up something or not removed a feature or not failed to sell.
Almost feel sorry for Sony these days.

You can claim Sony won all you want but all they beat are the hackers, very cool but its a hollow victory at best. Meanwhile in the business world Nintendo and Microsoft won.
Remember Sony is a company and in the end they just want to make money, Nintendo wants to make money, Microsoft wants to make money.... One of these is not like the others! Hint: Sony will end this generation just barely eeking out a profit, while Nintendo made oodles of cash and Microsoft did better than even they expected and probably managed a healthy profit.
So yeah Sony "won" but just not where it really counts.

He has to talk about piracy it's the one single area where Sony sort of did something right.
Try talking to him about anything else dealing with Sony and he will 100% of the time start talking about piracy lol
Edit: I mean it too, ask him about how well the PSP did VS the DS in console sales and he will probably start talking about how easy it is to pirate on the DS VS the PSP, its pretty funny, I get this image of him in my head like Iraq's minister of information.
