New details for the latest Mario Party game iteration, featuring new modes and options.

The long-running family game franchise, Mario Party is getting another release this year, and it's also one of the last Nintendo Wii titles to be launched worldwide.

Now, we can see a few new details, like boss fights, party traveling, and mini-game modes:

Mario Party 9 adds boss battles against the likes of Bowser and King Boo. Players will have to work together to defeat them, while also minding their own individual scores to come out on top.

A mini-game mode will also be included, intended for short bursts of play or to practice [...] The mode includes extra games, like Goomba Bowling and Castle Clearout. You can also travel with your party in vehicles like a flying carpet and submarine.

This time, the game is developed by Nd Cube Co., Ltd a Nintendo subsidiary with key employees from the Mario Party team at Hudson.

The game is slated to release on March 11.

This game looks like a lot of fun, if you have a family and want something you can all do together it doesn't get much more fun than this!

Looking forward to this one.

Agreed. Mario Party games are a blast to play.

To be honest I always thought Mario Party looked dumb as hell, then my wife demanded it for the Wii at launch or soon after (my memory is fuzzy, I remember buying Zelda the RE remake and Wario Ware for sure but can't remember what other games we got at launch all I know is it was 7AM I had been in line for hours and I spent like $900.)

Played it with the wife and kids, had such a blast I ended up finding all the ones for the GC and getting those and the N64 ones on the virtual console.

I even tracked down a GameCube microphone for the one Mario Party, its so weird that it works so well....

Edit: Oh I also remember being the last person in line to get a number to buy one, my wife got one because she was in front of me. I think the people behind me where about to cry probably like 100 people behind me. Was a weird contrast to the PS3 launch where I remember like 3 people waiting outside a store before they opened and walking up the store wondering why they had bothered to come early... It's not like it was going to sell out or anything. I had come to the store about 3 minutes before they opened just to see what was going on. Compared to getting my launch PS2, that thing sold out in minutes. Got sooooo lucky hmmm or unlucky depending on how you looked at it. My launch PS2 was broken and wouldn't play DVD's or CD's (can't remember what one it was.) anyway Walmart held a unit for me out of the next batch they got in just a few days later. (Or a week?)
