At last, 'more security' for their marketplace.

Google finally start scanning apps in the Android Market for known malware, spyware, and Trojans. However, they claim their service called 'The Bouncer' has been active since last year!
Looks like Google has started scanning third party apps in their Android Market. Although, they said they've been using that service, called "The Bouncer" for a while, it wasn't revealed until last week.
This service scans the market for potentially malicious software without disrupting the user experience or requiring developers to submit to an application approval process:
The service performs a set of analyses on new applications, applications already in Android Market, and developer accounts. Here's how it works: Once an application is uploaded, the service immediately starts analyzing it for known malware, spyware, and trojans. It also looks for behaviors that indicate an application might be misbehaving and compares it against previously analyzed apps to detect possible red flags.
Google claims it has been active since last year, and they've seen a 40% decrease in the number of potentially-malicious downloads in the Market. But apparently, they still allow the software to be sold before it is scanned.
Of course, this is not as oppressive as the Apple security measures, but at least is a good start. However, given recent reports, its effectiveness must be questioned if that service has been out for quite some time, as they say.
