Blackley passionately believes gameplay overules all that high-powered tech, and has rounded up a bunch of Arcade veterans to build quality games for Apple iPhone and iPad
What happens when you get the co-designer of the original Xbox and many of the original Atari programmers of classics like Battlezone, Missile Command, Asteroids and Centipede then put them together with a group of creative interns?
You get 'Innovative Leisure' a new startup looking to develop new, original IP's for iOS devices saying that they intend to carry on from where Atari left off by providing games designed around innovative gameplay, they are quoted as saying that "99 cents is the new quarter".
The company is currently being financed by THQ in exchange for first refusal on games they produce.
(Risky move, as THQ is running on shaky ground itself, but then Atari started with only $500 bucks!)
"We have to create a quality experience, hone it, and tweak the crap out of it so that you get the same level of gameplay that people demanded in the Arcade era”, Blackley stated in his interview about his new start-up company, along with this line: “It’s scary as **** if you don’t understand gameplay”.
“This is the dream team from Atari”, when Blackley talked with VentureBeat about the group he was able to bring together, and in regard to the new young blood, "These kids are thrilled to learn how to make games with the inventors of gameplay".

“We are carrying on where Atari left off, focusing on innovation in gameplay”
“They have worked together before, and they have a development rapport that is magical”
Much as though I am not a fan of Apple iDevices, the quality of the team behind this new company certainly could have me wavering and alot of others if they can pull it off, or hopefully they will expand once they are past the 'start-up' phase.
