Subjunk has released today PS3 Media Server 1.51.0 for Playstation 3.

With this app, for Windows and Linux (and OSx soon), you can stream media from your PC to your CFW / OFW Playstation 3 wirelessly.

Below is the changelog with lot of improvements and fixes:

• Make video quality presets localizable
• Fixed OSX log message about font definitions
• Fixed double wrapping of streams causing stuttering
• Added MPEG4 ASP with Qpel support for PS3
• Allow 15fps video
• MediaInfo link added to the About tab
• Updated to latest versions of libraries (codec, jdom, logback and slf4j)
• Various stability and speed improvements
• Updated JRE autodownload to 7u3 from 7u2
• Updated MPlayer and MEncoder to SB28
• Updated ImageMagick Convert to 6.7.6
• Updated MediaInfo to 0.7.54
• More reliable selection of correct audio channels
• Improved fast-forward and rewind support

Upgrade Notes:

For 1.23.0 and above:
• Just uninstall the older version and install newer one

For versions prior to 1.23.0:
• To retain your old settings you may have to copy your old config file/s to a new directory.

To find out where the new directory is on your computer, run the program and go to the Traces tab and look on the 14th line, the line that says "Profile directory:", that is the folder your config files should be saved now.

• If you use the "media library / cache" option you should reset it.

ive never really got why people would want this, when its far easier to stream direct to your tv or simply ftp the file over or have a portable media hub which would be more efficient that streaming from the pc to the ps3.

but i guess people use it and like things the hard way :)

its very simple really.

not everyone who owned PS3 also own a portable media player, nor if its convenient to bring your PC next to your tv nor if anyone got latest TV with media stream capable. also not everyone likes to transfer file to USB to play on the hubs, your PS3, etc. no hassle, your PC is a server that holds all your media.

best thing abt this s/w it able to stream MKV. as you know this format isnt streamlined yet. there are only a few companies whose support it.

i agree with diztructor on this, why run a pc and a power hungry ps3 to play mkv files when something like a £17 cyclone 2+ will play them straight off a hdd at 1080p over hdmi with little power drain and far lower replacement cost (+ if it does break down you dont lose your ability to play games)
