The new project is compatible with iOS 5. Jailbreak required.

The iTransmission client for iOS has resurrected and now users can download torrent files from it just installing the free App from Cydia.
Downloading torrents with a smartphone is not a common thing (maybe it has more sense on tablets) but having the option is always good.
iOS users were very limited in this field compared to Android ones and they only had a few options to do this, with some of those not yet working on newer version of the iOS, until now.
The abandoned iTransmission project has resurrected under a new developer management and the "2" number in the name. With this new version you can download and share from torrents like you do on your regular computer. The iTransmission 2 app is free to download from the ModMyi repo on Cydia, but as you guessed it requires your device to be jailbroken.
