Soft gaming console market would be the culprit according to Microsoft

Sales data of this Q3 2012 (Which ended on March 31th) revealed that the Microsoft's Xbox 360 sales have decreased 48% comparing the same period of the last year.

According to CVG:

Xbox 360 sales totalled 1.4 million units in the third quarter ended March 31, representing a 48 percent decrease year-on-year.

However, the console is keeping pace with last year, having moved 11.9 million units in the first three quarters, the same number shipped during the first nine months of fiscal 2011.

Microsoft also pointed out that Xbox 360 has been the top-selling console in the US for 15 consecutive months.

Chances are? It's probably because everyone who wanted to own one so badly bought one last year.. and now it's just that some people are hardcore and want the latest edition of the damned thing.

Its market saturation, the only sales that are happening now are a few small % of honest new systems maybe some kid has hit the age where they want to play games. The rest are going to be replacements for busted systems or as 2nd and 3rd game systems.

Only so many people are going to buy video game systems and that number has been pretty much hit.

Now the trick will be convincing people that they need a new system for the next gen.

how can people claim market saturation when its still so far behind the wii sales in the same region? unless of course people think that its available market is smaller.

A lot of people only buy one system, if they buy a Wii and not a 360 or a PS3 then thats that.

I think most families only buy one system, especially in a down economy.
