During this weekend the well-known iOS hacker pod2g has discovered at least two exploits to jailbreak iOS 5.1 the 'untethered way'

The iOS hacking community is waiting patiently for an untethered jailbreak of iOS 5.1 for A4 devices and even more for A5 (iPhone 4S) and A5X (new iPad). This weekend, the two exploits that pod2g has discovered keep us closer of getting that desirable jailbreak.

According to his Twitter:

News: a productive week-end. Found 2 big vulnerabilities. 1 kernel land and 1 root land.

So, we think that we haven't to wait much more to get our iDevices' "freedom". We'll keep you informed!

Did I miss something? Isn't there already a untethered version of jailbreak for iOS 5.1? Doesn't redsn0w_win_0.9.10b5c do that?

No. As for now, there is no untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1 available to the public, only tethered and for A4 devices.
