Tom Cook has confirmed in the All Things Digital conference that the 'S' of the iPhone 4S stands for Siri.

A lot or rumors were heard about the 'S' meaning in the new iPhone 4S.

The most credible were those who stated that the S stands for "Speed" like it did on the iPhone 3GS but recently, Tim Cook confirmed that this time the "S" stands for Siri.

According to Redmondpie:

Taking a seat at the All Things Digital conference, Tim Cook touched on a number of topics without revealing anything too delicious – including questions about an Apple TV, his role at the company now during the post-Jobs era, and Facebook, among some other things – but he also revealed a little tidbit about the beloved iPhone 4S. It’s true; as some may have guessed, the ‘S’ in 4S definitely stands for Siri. On top of confirming this, he also did take the time to acknowledge that, in its current state at least, Siri does still have its bugs. When it works, it’s an excellent product, but it often doesn’t.

Well that wasn't completely obvious. Siri is only the main feature of the revision.
Honestly, who doubted that it stood for Siri? Christ.

Oh really was that obvious? I don't think so. As i said, the S in the iPhone 3GS stands for Speed and it was logic to think that in the iPhone 4S stands for the same.

The "s" in 3GS was for "Speed" http://techcrunch.com/2009/06/08/say-hello-to-the-iphone-3gs-s-is-for-screaming-fast/ . Due to this, the S on 4GS for Siri wasn't that obvious ;)

and then call it IPhone 4si, not with old "s" brand.
