Just wondering what's happened on Maxconsole. Admittedly i've not posted here that often but it used to be a massive knowledge repository....but now, when i check some of the useful threads that used to be in the PSP section they're all gone, deleted or lost...(Yes i've enabled see all ages of post in my CP)

Was there an announcement regarding this massive prune (the PSP section has lost so much!) or is there some reason for so much loss?

there was a problem mostly with attachments, actual content should still be accessible although some of that may have been lost, i do know the attachments problem is being worked on but as yet the powers that be still dont know if they can be salvaged.

I wasn't actually explicitly referring to attachments, just topics in general. I'd wondered if i'd missed/overlooked some big announcement about a mass purge or database crash but i can't see anything to explain the massive holes. I could cope with attachments being gone but complete threads?

I suppose i'm just sad that it seems like such a lot of content and knowledge appears to have disappeared.

well as i said i cant comment specifically, in theory all posts should be archived although it is possible that at some point the database was purged, i have looked and i cant seem to find anything prior to mid 2009.

i'll ask gary to look into it and see if there is anything there although please understand it might take a while for a response as he is quite a busy person.

There's no pressure or anything....it'd just be nice to know how that content went missing.

well i would hope that helping each other is part of the reason we are all here.

gary says he is looking into it but no timescale for a reply to you at the moment. was there something specific that you were looking for because if so someone might be able to help you on that if you ask in the right section or you could even try linking in from one of those internet snapshot websites like way back machine to see if its just a front end / search issue.

It was nothing in particular for myself. It's just that having frequented the PSP boards for the first couple of years after signing up, and having memories of several informative topics, sometimes it'd be nice to fish out helpful tidbits of info. So much great info was posted on these boards and the waybackmachine can only do so much.
