hello there,
I have an original xbox which I am trying to mod.
I did try the softmod but unfortunately fried my hard disk:eek: and now get no hard drive error.
so... i have ordered the aladdin xt modchip to install.
i have never installed a modchip before, but since I like making electronics projects I do know how to solder properly.
i have opened up the xbox and so far i have worked out it's either a 1.4 or 1.5 because of the power supply and the graphics chip used.
the modchip says it is compatible with all versions, and is loaded with evox BIOS.
I do have a few hardisks I can use, an 8gb seagate and an 80gb one ( unsure of brand)
Can I use any hard disk? my xbox detects 8 gig one but gives an error 7 because it isn't locked.
I would really appreciate it if anyone has the installation diagrams for the chip (are they different for different versions of xbox??) and could tell me if I can use any hard disk.
it would also help if someone could tell me how to get evox set up on my hard drive to work with the chip. (have an old pc from the stone age with ide if that helps)
