EA made a choice to drop the Nintendo system, and some loyal fans were upset and took to twitter to ask 'WHY', and well it got one senior member at EA upset also, and he started to defend EA's actions on Twitter, all tho the whole 'twitter war' has now been deleted, maybe as some slapping around the boardroom to save his job, unlike what happen when an M$ tech spoke out about the 'always-online', but the best parts were saved by IGN as screenshots, and we have included some of Mr. Bob's tweets below:
"Nintendo are still operating like it's 1990. They should have "done a Sega" and offered Mario/Zelda as PS4/Durango exclusives."

"Instead they make this awful console, and this...nintendo.com/wii/udownloads.... Just stop it! Just make great games!"

"It is an utterly intentional decision to focus our resource on markets which actually matter... like mobile, and Gen4."
"One more : -). Nintendo platforms have always been very poor revenue-wise for third parties. Only Mario and Zelda make money."

With EA gone, is it a sign that Wii U will be the next Dreamcast?

EA pulled out early with Dreamcast, and other publishers soon followed suit, but will that happen again with the Wii U, even the new exclusive deal with SEGA might not help save the Nintendo Wii U.

Earlier this week, EA announced that its 'game over' for them with Nintendo, and then Nintendo fired back with we have SEGA on our side, but GamesIndustry does not think it will help, the signs of Nintendo's Wii U being the next Dreamcast is written in stone already on many areas, other smaller developers have already returned their Wii U dev-kits, without even trying to produce a game, and retailers have slashed prices on their remaining stock just so they can get rid of the boxes gathering dust on their shelfs.

Quote:

With no support from Electronic Arts, the Wii U just experienced its Dreamcast moment. Will other publishers now follow suit?

And I'm not saying Electronic Arts has the same pull it did in the console market during the year 2000. It's market share has been overtaken by Activision and is being threatened by a hungry Ubisoft.

But EA has pulled out of the Wii U because sales of both hardware and software are dreadful.

"When you can get to number one in the Wii U charts by selling less than 1000 units it's no longer a tragedy, it's an actual farce"

The Wii U has been defeated by the most humbling of challengers - consumer apathy. When the inevitable "Nintendo halts Wii U production" stories hit, the majority of those that bought the original Wii won't even notice. The mainstream bought the Wii because it was a fun novelty, they didn't buy it for a new Zelda game. What's the Wii U's novelty? That it does everything a current-gen console does but a little bit slower and with a Fisher Price tablet attached?

"The Wii U isn't discounted at the supermarkets because they want to sell more, it's been cut in price so they can get rid of it quickly"

And finally GamesIndustry believes that the deal with SEGA is no big deal, as its just an tired old mascot and no one will pick up a Wii U because it has Sonic, and if Nintendo can't even help SEGA sell their old mascot, then its basically 'game over' for them also, its like two old buddies deciding at the very end to hang themselves together.

Well at least Nintendo will have some company in the afterlife.

•	Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D: This game launches in stores and in the Nintendo eShop on May 24 and includes all the fun of the original Wii game, now optimized for portable play. It also includes eight new unlockable levels that are each based on one of the eight worlds from the original game. These levels will challenge players with new elements like platforms that force them to move at a faster pace, large drops of tar falling from the ceiling and giant rotating stone gears that can alter the level itself.

•	A Legendary Sale: The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons arrive on the Virtual Console service for Nintendo 3DS on May 30. Because playing the games together unlocks so much additional content, Nintendo is offering them for just $4.99 each for the first three weeks after launch.
•	Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move: The game, which launched May 9 exclusively in the Nintendo eShop, challenges players to place tiles on the bottom screen to guide the Minis to their goal on the top screen. The game includes more than 180 stages, but also dramatically extends the fun of the game by letting players create their own stages and share them with others. Players can opt to try a random user-created level or one created by their friends. They can also select from the most popular levels overall or search the top levels of the week.

Another Nintendo Direct focused on future Wii U content will air around the time of E3 2013.

We all knew this day would be coming at some point, after the news that the EA 'Frostbite Engine' will not run perfectly on the Wii U, even tho EA was able to down-scale a version for mobile devices, and even plan a new Battlefield for cell phones, they can not be brother to do the same for the Nintendo Wii U system, most likely because of horrible sales or just plain hated for big 'N' management.

According to a Kotaku report, EA has confirmed that it is no longer working on Nintendo's new console.

"We have no games in development for the Wii U currently," EA's Jeff Brown is quoted as saying. Brown did not indicate if EA would resume development on the system in the future

Earlier this month, EA confirmed it would not be bringing this year's Madden NFL 25 to the Wii U. At the time, a representative said, "We have a strong partnership with Nintendo and will continue to evaluate opportunities for delivering additional Madden NFL products for Nintendo fans in the future."

Well I guess the 4 games that EA did release, will become collector's items soon, most likely they will stop even stamping out new ones to replace stock, one the current truckloads sitting in warehouses are sold-off at bargain bin prices.
There been alot of talk regarding 'Shadow of Eternals', since their big launch of two crowd-funding projects to finish the game, one on KickStarter, and one on their own website, some are calling it 'double-dipping' but now there is more cause to worry as Silicon Knights is bought in to discuss legal issues regarding the rumored sale of IP assets to 'Precursor Games' regarding this game, that is being billed as the "spiritual successor" to the seminal GameCube horror adventure Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem.

Quote:

Speaking to Game Informer, Silicon Knights chief financial officer Mike Mays clarified that while art assets used in Shadow of the Eternals were sold to Precursor from Silicon Knights but Precursor's Denis Dyack - who was once head honcho at Silicon Knights - was not among the buyers.

Mays also noted that Silicon Knights is "mostly working on legal issues" and wouldn't comment on the studio's current employees or any potential projects.

Precursor Games is currently using Kickstarter and its own website to fund Shadow of the Eternals, which is planned as an episodic Wii U eShop title. Support has been slow, which could be due to Dyack's involvement in a lawsuit between Silicon Knights and Epic Games that resulted in a court order for Silicon Knights to destroy any and all projects that used Epic's Unreal Engine 3.

Will this 'legal glitch' stop you from backing their wonderful project idea for a new game? --- Or are you already worried about it not appearing and you help funded it already? --- The downsides of 'crowd-funding' for games...

The battle of Motiva vs. Nintendo is finally over...

Motiva has two patents on motion control related to their failed fitness project, and they were battling Nintendo over it, claiming the launch of the Wii with its motion controller is why they failed!

Back in 2003, two guys had a great idea to turn those 'beach babes' above into future 'runway models', and they formed Motiva and filed a number of patents on a new kind 'motion control device' mirrored to a 'video gaming system', but sadly their 'fitness' project never moved really past the 'idea' stage and it never appeared in the marketplace.
Then in 2006, Nintendo launched the Wii with its now world-famous 'wand' with its 'motion tracking' and of course there was a few 'fitness' games like the Wii Fit, so in 2008 the Motiva guys filed a lawsuit against the Big 'N' claiming they were the reason they failed.

Quote:

"The release of the Wii crushed a startup in America," said Motiva's lawyer Christopher Banys in Palo Alto, California. "The ITC ought to be available to companies that are inventive institutions. Where does a nascent business go when it feels it's been crushed?"

Nintendo of course has alot of experience in defending themselves with a team of lawyers, so they were able to bounce the ball around a number of courts until way past 2010, by then ITC was saying it was 'too late' for Motiva to have any claim in the matter before them.

Quote:

"The ITC is not shutting the door, but it's like one of those spy movies where you have to get through all these little lasers to get in," said Smith Brittingham, a patent lawyer with Finnegan in Washington, who specializes in ITC cases.

"They're saying, ‘We recognize a poor domestic industry when we see one. Congress, you do not need to change our way of doing business to save the world from really tenuous claims.'"

"Unless your licensing industry is truly robust, long-standing and from a company that has some kind of cache, I don't think the ITC is the place to be," said Rodney Sweetland, a patent lawyer with Duane Morris, who specializes in ITC cases.

Of course appeals were launched on both sides, and finally the top federal court ruled this week with the final answer, which Nintendo just stated a few words on the matter: "The court made a reasonable judgment"!

Quote:

The ITC's goal is to protect U.S. markets from unfair trade practices, and it requires patent owners to prove they have something worth protecting. The agency said Motiva's three-year-old lawsuit against Kyoto, Japan-based Nintendo in a district court didn't pass that test, and the appeals court agreed.

"The evidence demonstrated that Motiva's litigation was targeted at financial gains, not at encouraging adoption of Motiva's patented technology," Circuit Judge Sharon Prost wrote for the three-judge panel. "The inventors looked forward to financial gains through Motiva's litigation, not hopes of stimulating investment or partnerships with manufacturers."

The ITC had found Nintendo didn't infringe the patents. The Federal Circuit, rather than ruling on that issue, made its decision on the question of whether a case should have been allowed at the commission.

Check out how bad the lack of Frostbite Engine 3 support is going to hurt the Wii U...

If you didn't know, Frostbite 3 won't run at all on the Wii U. So, Nintendo's HD console will miss out games like Battlefield 4, Mass Effect 4, Dragon Age 3 and upcoming Star Wars titles.

Next-gen EA games will skip Wii U due to performance issues with the Frostbite engine.

First, here's the explanation: according to engine developer at DICE Johan Andersson, early tests on Nintendo's HD console left much to be desired...

Quote:

"[Frostbite 3] has never been running on Wii U," Andersson said on Twitter.

"We did some tests with not too promising results with [Frostbite 2] & chose not to go down that path."

Now, that means EA is going to skip the Wii U for 15 of its upcoming titles! These include Mass Effect 4, Dragon Age 3 and its unannounced Star Wars games...

Quote:

Frostbite technical director Stefan Boberg noted that 15 games are currently in development at EA using Frostbite Engine 3 including Battlefield 4, Mass Effect 4, Dragon Age 3, Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel, Need For Speed 2013 and its unannounced Star Wars titles from Visceral and DICE.

So, there you have it. This adds up to the notable loss of support for the console, and yet again, EA side of things is looking very poor.

What do you think?
Is the big 'N' ship sinking fast? -- Low sales? -- Changed management? -- Cancelled Games? -- Now more reports of developers have not even 'touched' their Wii U dev kits!

We all know EA hates Nintendo, but it seems more and more smaller game developers are dropping Nintendo faster then a hot potato, because there is now reports of them returning their dev-kits to the big 'N' and some of them have not even been used at all.

Quote:

Reports are coming in, as many as 10 developers have returned their untouched Wii U developer kits to Nintendo this week. 9 of the 10 are unknown at this time, but one has stepped forward and admitted that they either had no idea what to develop for the system nor did their developers want to. Avalanche Studios gave a quote this morning to IGN stating that they had initial plans to develop new games for the Wii U, but just had no clue what to do. They do think that it's a "cool" idea, but its just not the right idea for them.

Avalanche do have plans for the next generation, but do not see the Wii U in their future. The developer claimed that there was just no contact between Nintendo and themselves. This is not the only 3rd party developer that has claimed this. WB Games and Netherrealm Studios who developed Injustice: Gods Among Us for the PS3, XBOX360 and the Wii U earlier this month claimed that they tried to stay in touch with Nintendo to work out a deal to distribute their DLC on the Nintendo eShop, but no one was getting in contact with them. As reported, nine other developers have returned their dev kits, and EA's stance on the Wii U right now has simply been that they are in no way developing for the Wii U. I guess we could count them in that group.

Not good news at all the Nintendo and their new Wii-U, at this rate will it even last to compete against the other two next-gen system this Holiday buying season.
Precursor Games has launched the official crowd-funding campaign for the spiritual successor of 'Eternal Darkness', made in CryEngine 3 and by ex-Silicon Knights designers. First footage inside!

That's right, Denis Dyack and Precursor Games are asking for $1.5 million to develop the first episode in the Eternal Darkness spiritual successor series for Wii U and PC.

The 'Shadow of the Eternals' pilot episode will launch during the second half of 2014. The game is powered by the CryEngine 3.

The crowd-funding campaign can be found at www.ShadowOfTheEternals.com (nope, it is NOT a Kickstarter campaign). Here's a bit more info about the game and the developers:
"Featuring an ensemble cast, Shadow of the Eternals will span over 2500 years of human history. Players will question their own perception of reality as they progress through this mind-altering psychological horror," Precursor Games said in a statement.

The pilot episode of Shadow of the Eternals starts off with detective Paul Becker being called to a bloody massacre at Pleasant View Hospital in Louisiana. Two individuals survive, though they have no recollection about who they are or what happened.

Becker must interrogate the suspects and in doing so, brings players to Hungary in 1610 at Čachtice Castle, home of the noblewoman Erzébet Bathory.

"Bathory is also a notorious serial killer; torturing and killing as many as 400 young women in her obsessive quest to retain her youth," the game description reads. "You play the role of Bathory’s handmaiden and lover Clara, who is blackmailed by the authorities into gathering information about a missing nobleman’s daughter."

Precursor Games was founded in July 2012 and is made up of "veteran" game developers aiming to change the way games are made by leveraging emerging digital platforms. Denis Dyack, who was lead designer on Eternal Darkness, is working as chief creative officer at Precursor Games.

An EA Sports representative confirmed that 'Madden NFL 25' is not in the works for Nintendo's Wii U. First time the series skips Nintendo platforms since 1991.

That's right, an EA representative has confirmed Nintendo World Report that Madden NFL 25 won't be released on the Wii U.

This will mark the first time the series had skipped over Nintendo platforms since 1991...

Here's the official statement:

Quote:

"We will not be releasing a Wii U version of Madden NFL in 2013. However, we have a strong partnership with Nintendo and will continue to evaluate opportunities for delivering additional Madden NFL products for Nintendo fans in the future."

Madden may not be the only EA Sports franchise to not come to Wii U this year. FIFA 14 has been confirmed thus far only for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Last year's Madden NFL 13 came out for both Wii and Wii U.

So, there you have it. The Nintendo and EA partnership just keeps getting "better and better", don't you think?

According to Nintendo's Satoru Iwata, 'software development is becoming more challenging', adding that costs/expectations are rising...

As part of Nintendo's financial briefing Q&A, company's president Satoru Iwata admitted they miscalculated the development resources required for its Wii U launch titles.

As a result, development of titles like Pikmin 3 and others were “understaffed” as the company rushed to finish its games in time for the console's launch, causing subsequent delays.

Quote:

"We originally planned to release a few first-party titles for Wii U during the first half of this year, but no big titles are scheduled for release before Pikmin 3 in July [in Japan] because we decided to take time to add the final touches to ensure that consumers fully feel that they are valuable titles. The brand of a franchise would be completely degraded without customer satisfaction.

"The reason for the delayed release of our first-party titles was the fact that completing the games released at the same time as the launch of Wii U required more development resources than expected, so some staff members from development teams working on other titles had to help complete them. In short, the development teams of Pikmin 3 and other future games were understaffed during that period."

Also, according to him, "software development is becoming more challenging", and that expectations are rising...

Quote:

"It is true that it is becoming increasingly challenging to meet the expectations of consumers who are willing to pay $50-$60 for a game, and it is difficult to break even unless a huge number of units is sold all over the world, so it cannot be denied that software development is becoming more challenging.

"Among such packaged software, however, the sales of popular games are much larger than in the past. Therefore, if we create more hit games, the software development business can still be very profitable. All games break even if they sell millions of copies worldwide, so we will continue to do our best to develop games which have high sales potential."

That's right, Nintendo won't host a big keynote at this year's E3, as it plans to focus on small hands-on events instead...

Nintendo won't host a full-scale press conference at E3 2013 (June 11-13), Satoru Iwata said during the company's latest financial results briefing.

Instead of a presentation targeted at an international audience, Nintendo plans to host smaller, more directed events...

Quote:

Also, I would like to use this opportunity to talk about this year’s E3.

In the past we invited reporters, investors and analysts, industry partners, such as software publishers, and distributors who attended E3 to our large-scale presentations. We also used them as a communication tool in which we broadcast our presentations on the Internet to reach out to video game fans around the globe. I believe that many are expecting us to host a similar event this year.

On the other hand, since we set out on new endeavors such as Nintendo Direct two years ago in October, we have been paying special attention to the fact that different people demand different types of information from us. For example, as video game fans are looking for information about games, it seems that they are less interested in sales figures that investors and analysts on the other hand attach much greater importance to, and distribution partners are looking for information on how we are going to market our products in the immediate future. At previous financial briefing sessions we announced information about our products, showed videos and even uploaded the recording of these events onto our website, but given that we now have an established method such as Nintendo Direct, we feel that we will be able to deliver our messages more appropriately and effectively by doing so individually based on the various needs of different groups of people.

At E3 this year, we are not planning to launch new hardware, and our main activity at E3 will be to announce and have people experience our software. Many people are certainly very interested in learning more about the Wii U titles that we are going to announce. We will use E3 as an ideal opportunity to talk in detail mainly about the Wii U titles that we are going to launch this year, and we also plan to make it possible for visitors to try the games immediately. As a brand new challenge, we are working to establish a new presentation style for E3.

First, we decided not to host a large-scale presentation targeted at everyone in the international audience where we announce new information as we did in the past.

Instead, at the E3 show this year, we are planning to host a few smaller events that are specifically focused on our software lineup for the U.S. market. There will be one closed event for American distributors, and we will hold another closed hands-on experience event, for mainly the Western gaming media. Also, I did not speak at last year’s presentation, and I am not planning to speak at these events at the E3 show this year either. Apart from these exclusive events for visitors, we are continuing to investigate ways to deliver information about our games directly to our home audience around the time of E3. We will share more information about them once they have officially been decided.

During the E3 period, we will utilize our direct communication tools, such as Nintendo Direct, to deliver information to our Japanese audience, including those who are at this financial briefing, mainly focusing on the software that we are going to launch in Japan, and we will take the same approach outside Japan for the overseas fans as well.

So, there you have it. What do you think of this?

You can read Nintendo's full financial results briefing HERE! (in English)

* UPDATE!

Nintendo has just clarified its plans. Two small events on Tuesday morning of E3...

Quote:

“As you’ve already seen, a lot of news about Nintendo games and services that traditionally would be held until E3 is being delivered this year through Nintendo Directs, and various press events,” said Nintendo in a statement. “This approach will continue between now and E3. No matter where you are in the world, you’ll be fully informed. We look forward to continuing to provide you with Nintendo news and content in ways you haven’t before experienced. Beyond the news that will be communicated through Nintendo Direct videos in the run up to E3.

“At the show itself we’re hosting two smaller events on Tuesday morning before the LACC opens instead of just our traditional one event. A media event and a partner presentation will both occur that morning. While the audiences will be different between the two events, both will occur on the Tuesday morning of E3 (June 11) which is the date and time period the public has come to expect for Nintendo to deliver E3 news.

“At the Nokia theater we’ll meet with business partners (retailers, publishers, analysts, etc.) from the [Nintendo of America] territory and discuss our plans for driving the business and providing tailored information that this group finds useful to their operations.

“Nintendo has done these same type of business meetings at past E3 shows, but has not in the past few years. This year we are returning to that business partner meeting format. New this year at our booth in the [Los Angeles Convention Center], prior to the show opening, we’ll invite a small group of media to play our games.

“We will have a strong line-up of beloved franchise experiences available for immediate hands-on play. We are continuing to consider exciting new ways to bring the news of our games and information directly to the players at home during the E3 timeframe, and will have more to say about that at a later date.”

It looks like the Wii U only shipped around 390,000 units worldwide in the last three months. 3DS also misses expectations...

Nintendo has reported a net profit of 7.1 billion yen (£46.8m / $71.4m) for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2013, half of what it forecast in January, but still a significant improvement on the net loss of 43.2 billion yen (£285m / $434m) recorded last year...

Quote:

 - Net sales decreased 1.9 per cent year-over-year to 635.4 billion yen (£4.2b / $6.4b), while the company posted an operating loss of 36.4 billion yen (£240.3m / $366.2m) - roughly in line with the previous year's results - "owing to the fact that Wii U hardware sales have a negative impact on Nintendo's profits".

- Nintendo said the lifetime Wii U sales stood at 3.45 million units as of March 31, missing the firm's most recent guidance of four million units, which was itself adjusted from initial forecasts of 5.5 million. That means the Wii U only shipped around 390,000 units worldwide in the last three months. Nintendo also reported Wii U software sales of 13.42 million units, short of the 16 million forecast in January.

- 3DS hardware sales were weaker than expected too, coming in at 13.95 million units, short of the 15 million expected in January. 3DS software sales totaled 49.61 million units, just shy of the firm's 50 million target. Lifetime 3DS sales now stand at 31.09 million units, and 3DS software sales at 95.03 million units.

- Lifetime Wii sales now stand at 99.84 million units, with software sales of 869.06 million.

- Lifetime DS sales are 153.87 million units, with software sales of 933.69 million.

- For the current business year ending March 31, 2014, Nintendo forecast net sales of 920 billion yen (£6.1b / $9.2b), operating income of 100 billion yen (£660m / $1b) and net profit of 55 billion yen (£362m / $553m). It expects to sell nine million Wii U hardware units and 38 million Wii U games during the period, as well as 18 million 3DS units and 80 million games for the handheld.

It also looks like the company is set to stop the production of the Nintendo DS this fiscal year, as suggested by the financial report...
Analysts don't think Nintendo can achieve 100 billion yen ($1 billion) operating profit this fiscal year...

According to Bloomberg, Nintendo will announce a second straight annual loss this week, losing 18.7 billion yen in the 12 months ended March 31.

For the year started April 1, Nintendo may post an operating income of 70 billion-yen, according to the average of 19 estimates, short of a target Satoru Iwata said was a personal “commitment.”

Here's the report:

Quote:

Nintendo Co. President Satoru Iwata has pledged that the “Super Mario” game creator will post a 100 billion-yen ($1 billion) operating profit this fiscal year as new software titles boost sales. Analysts say he’ll fail.

[...]

“Iwata hasn’t produced good results in recent years,” said Hideki Yasuda, a Tokyo-based analyst at Ace Securities Co. “He can’t avoid being criticized.”

Yasuda rates the stock neutral, or hold. Only 4 of 20 analysts tracked by Bloomberg recommend buying Nintendo shares, while 13 recommend holding them and 3 recommend investors sell.

Yasuhiro Minagawa, a spokesman for Kyoto-based Nintendo, declined to comment on the difference between its commitment and analysts’ forecasts. The company will release earnings after the close of trade tomorrow.

Analyst Estimates

Nintendo fell 1.8 percent to 11,420 yen at the 3 p.m. close of trade in Osaka, trimming its gain this year to 25 percent, compared with a 30 percent surge in Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average. Sony has jumped 70 percent in Tokyo.

Even as a weaker yen boosts the repatriated value of overseas earnings for Japanese exporters such as Nintendo, it may not be enough to meet Iwata’s profit target as the Wii U struggles to gain traction.

“I don’t think Nintendo can achieve 100 billion yen,” said Yoshikazu Shimada, an analyst at Tachibana Securities Co. “It’s hard for Nintendo to meet the target despite the weak yen’s tailwind.”

[...]

Sliding Yen

While Nintendo struggles with its main business, a weakening of the yen may give some relief. The Japanese currency has depreciated about 12 percent against the U.S. dollar this year and touched a four-year low of 99.95 on April 11.

That may enable the company to post net income of 14 billion yen tomorrow, the company said in January.

While the currency helps, refreshing the game development pipeline is critical to a sustained turnaround, with Nintendo planning to add titles including “Pikmin 3” and “Wii Fit U.”

“Nintendo can achieve the target if it can release the game software as planned,” said Yasuda at Ace Securities.

For free, of course...

Mother 3's fan translators said Nintendo can have their script for free. Could they accept?

Nintendo recently announced that they're releasing EarthBound on the Wii U virtual console in the U.S. and Europe.

As you may know, Mother 3, the Game Boy Advance sequel to Earthbound (which is called Mother 2 in Japan) never made it to the west, so it would require a full localization.

However, a group of fans released a translation in 2008. Their script is great, full of wit and charm and ridiculous puns.

Well, the team now says that if Nintendo were to ever localize the game, they'd be happy to give them the English script they released a few years ago, free of charge.

Here's the post by the team:

Quote:

 Offer to Nintendo

When we released the MOTHER 3 fan translation patch in 2008, it was because it was clear that Nintendo had no interest in releasing an official translation of the game. Still, there’s always the hope that the game might be re-released someday on some new platform, at which time us fans will clamor for an official translation yet again.

I realize that localizing a game this size can cost a lot, so if it’ll help in even the slightest, I’ll gladly offer to let Nintendo use my text translation files for any use at all, completely for free. I’ll even edit the files to fit whatever new standards are necessary (content, formatting, memory size, etc.), completely for free. I’ll even retranslate everything from scratch if need be. Just whatever it takes to get an official release out.

It might seem unlikely for a legitimate company to use a fan translation or work with fan translators, but it has happened before – Ys: The Oath in Felghana is one recent example. It’s more common among visual novel games at the moment, but I believe this sort of thing will only become more and more common over time. Only when the works in question are up to a certain standard of quality, of course.

There you have it. It's unlikely Nintendo will accept such an offer, but as you can see, it has happened before with other games.

Either way, it would be very cool if Nintendo decides to release the game over here on the Wii U or 3DS eShop, don't you think?

Michael Pachter 'strikes' again!

The infamous analyst says that he doesn’t understand Japanese companies or their motivation for releasing games...

In the latest Pach-Attack show at GameTrailers, Wedbush research analyst Michael Pachter has admitted that he doesn’t understand Japanese companies or their motivation for releasing games.

Answering a question about why Square-Enix hasn't released a Final Fantasy VII remake, for example, he said that they just continuously ignore profit opportunities that would net them easy money, making it hard to understand their motivations.

Oh and, he commented more stuff about Nintendo too (yet again...):

Quote:

Pachter said: “I don’t think Nintendo is unique in being inscrutable. I don’t get any Japanese developer, I don’t know what motivates them, especially in how they release games into the West. Final Fantasy is just one of those franchises I just don’t get.”

Moving on from Final Fantasy, Pachter answers a question deliberating whether it is a riskier option to become an ‘everyone’ console, or a specific ‘hardcore’ software. Turning a comparison from the Wii’s everyone and non-traditional market to the Wii U’s ‘traditional games market’, Pachter said it was a mistake made by Nintendo.

He continued: “Nintendo had a huge success in expanding into the non-traditional market – that’s 25-year-old women who play Guitar Hero, 45-year-old women who play Wii Fit, 65-year-old women who play bowling – that worked and they sold a lot of consoles, but those people didn’t really embrace other software titles [...] so I think that you can make money if it resonates with everyone but ultimately it causes you to make mistakes like the Wii U.

“Nintendo thought all these same people would line up and play the Wii U [...] and those non-traditional people didn’t embrace it. I think Nintendo is going to be lucky to sell 30-40 million Wii U’s, they might sell 20-25 miliion which makes it more like a GameCube, but we’ll see.”

Tales series producer Hideo Baba has praised the Wii U by calling it a "brilliant console".

According to him, Namco Tales Studio currently has no plans to develop any games for the system. However, all could change if the console becomes more successful in the future.
