A trailer for the PlayStation 3 exclusive was inconspicuously included as part of a GameSpot feature published earlier today, confirming an 11th June release date for the freemium fighter.

Earlier in the year, series ringleader Katsuhiro Harada dismissed an Australian rating for the title as a new version of Namco Bandai's mobile phone spin-off Tekken Card Tournament, but this looks very much like a traditional beat ‘em up to us. We suppose that we won't have to wait long to find out for sure.

Assuming that this is a conventional entry in the classic combat series, it will be heading straight into battle with Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, which is also set to get a free-to-play release on the PS3. We suspect that we'll be learning a lot more about this over the coming days.

The development of Crimes & Punishments on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC is advancing quickly.

The new investigation game developed by Frogwares takes this opportunity to unveil a series of 4 new screenshots, testimony of the progress made on the game since its last appearance. This new ambitious title in the series of the Sherlock Holmes investigation games will be unveiled to international press next week at E3, where it will be presented in every detail for the first time.

Today's screenshots show that Crimes & Punishments definitely marks the biggest step ever made by the Sherlock Holmes games. Giving up their homemade engine in favor of Epic's Unreal Engine 3, Frogwares Studio first allows the game to benefit from richer, more immersive and detailed visuals, for both environments and characters.

Yes, Grid 2: Mono Edition is officially the most expensive video game on the planet and will set some rich person back a cool £125,000. Only one customer will be available to pre order the package, which includes the highly-anticipated game from Codemasters, a PlayStation 3 console... and a 170mph BAC Mono supercar with racing driver clobber thrown in for good measure.

The road-legal machine, made from high-strength carbon fibre, goes from 0-60 in just 2.8 seconds (I think that's slightly faster than the Road Runner himself). And, let's be fair, it is a thing of beauty.

The experimental effort gives legos the ability to be controlled like many robots. Sony says the added functionality allowed for Lego toys to be more interactive while keeping them the same size.

"Lego is concerned about losing kids to video games," Ganta Kondo from Sony's research and development division tells PCWorld. "We want to keep the size small, but add interactive games."

PCWorld got to see an exclusive demo of the project. The demonstration saw two motorized legos racing each other using a wireless Playstation 3 controller. Sony believes that system could be used to create Lego battles where players would fight each other off using uniquely built Lego figures.

The project is still in the early stages of development. Sony reports that the toys currently suffer from poor battery life because of the tiny parts needed to control a Lego. The company says it has yet to decide when, and if, the project will ever reach consumers.

Sony showed off the project as part of its open house at Sony Labs in Tokyo. Along with the Lego project, Sony also showed off head-mounted video displays and Android-controlled home appliances at the open house.

Ellen Page, who stars in David Cage's upcoming supernatural PS3 drama Beyond: Two Souls, doesn't think there's anything unnatural about video games covering tough, adult topics like suicide or homelessness-both of which her character, Jodie, deals with in the game. In a recent interview with Metro, she talks about how the medium should be a natural medium for complex human issues.

"Why would you not want to explore that format of storytelling?" Page says in the Metro interview. "I'm fascinated to see if people feel emotionally attached and compelled in these intense moments of Jodie's life to make choices from those feelings."

Cage and his team at Quantic Dream are no strangers to this concept, having addressed in 2010 with the questionably written but technically impressive Heavy Rain.

The news was revealed by legendary Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi at an event held to celebrate 15 years of the 70-million-selling series.

GT6 for PlayStation 3 will bring new levels of authenticity to ‘the Real Driving Simulator' as well as introducing stunning new tracks and cars and a revised user interface. A new compact game engine will improve operation and increase the flexibility to expand it with downloadable content.

Meanwhile, the game is also set for expanded connectivity with other devices such as smart phones and tablets and increased social and community functions.

All of the cars and tracks from Gran Turismo 5, which has sold over 10m copies since launching in 2010, will be retained in GT6. But notable new additions to the already impressive line-up of historic cars, road cars and the latest race cars, brings the total car list to 1200 at launch, with new cars set to be continually added online.

The 44-year-old is apparently looking to make those life sentences a little less tedious, because now he's asking for a PlayStation 3.

The issue started in 2006 when Knight requested to have a computer in his prison cell, claiming it would be used to perform research and to prepare materials to be used later on in a bid to get a release date from the courts. His request was denied. And then denied again. Such denials have continued for seven years now. Such denials have prompted legal action on his part, with the inmate serving a legal subpoena to the government for records of other inmates who have been granted computers.

Said Knight on the issue of the computer: "This cause of action has been going for seven years, this is now the eighth proceeding. I only have to walk around the prison and I can see with my own eyes who has a computer and who doesn't. I'm the only prisoner who has made applications to have a computer who has had it denied and denied repeatedly."

And so now, in addition to seeking the computer, he is also seeking to have a PlayStation 3 console in his prison cell.

Beginning on May 14th Tuesday when the PSN Store does its weekly update (Wednesday for those in Europe), you'll be able to step back into the shoes of James Earl Cash, a Death Row inmate playing that most dangerous game of kill-or-be-killed at the mercy of the maniacal Lionel Starkweather.

The board backed a proposal from Chief Executive Officer Kazuo Hirai that management forgo bonuses worth 30 percent to 50 percent of their annual pay in the year ended March, Mami Imada, a Tokyo-based spokeswoman said by phone today. She declined to specify the amount of compensation being reduced.

Hirai pledged to revive Sony’s electronics operation by cutting 10,000 jobs and shifting away from the unprofitable television unit after he took the top job in April last year. The CEO is expanding an initiative from last year when the 52- year-old and his predecessor Howard Stringer didn’t get bonuses.

About 40 executives are returning the bonuses which were scheduled to be paid after the general shareholders meeting in June, according to Yu Kikuchi, a Sony spokeswoman.

Sony reported its first annual net profit in five years last week, helped by one-time gains from asset sales and a weaker yen. The company didn’t say how much the electronics unit lost.

Net income was probably 40 billion yen ($410 million) in the year ended March 31, compared with a net loss of 456.7 billion yen a year earlier, the company said in a preliminary earnings statement April 26. That was in line with the 43.3 billion yen average of 18 analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg.

Selling properties and stock holdings generated about $2 billion in profit for Sony as it stumbles from losses in its TV business and mobile-phone unit. Games, cameras and mobile devices, including Xperia smartphones, are central to Hirai’s plan to revive the consumer-electronics business after losing ground to Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co.

The Nikkei reported the plan to give up bonuses earlier today.

An update for the SEN Web Store has been released which introduced a remote download feature. After making a purchase on the Web Store, you will now be able to place your content into a download queue for remote download to your PS3 or PS VITA device.

PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to take advantage of the automatic update function available through the Plus service to remotely download content purchased from the Web Store to your selected device during the regular automatic update. If you do not have a Plus subscription, any content queued for remote download will automatically begin downloading and installing when the device is manually turned on.

To remote download:

You can remotely download game content directly onto your PS3 from the SEN Online Store.

1. At the 'Thank You' page or on your Download List select 'Download to your PS3' next to the title you want to download.

2. Provided your device is in stand-by mode and you are a member of PlayStation Plus, your PS3 will begin downloading at the specified time in the PS3 automatic update setting. If you are not a member of PlayStation Plus the content will begin downloading automatically when you next switch on your PS3.

3. Once it's downloaded go to Game icon (Games) to access your new game.

Rainmaker Entertainment's first theatrical credit was February's animated film Escape from Planet Earth, which was released by The Weinstein Company. As for Blockade Entertainment, the company previously created a trailer for Electronic Arts' Dante's Inferno.

"One of the biggest questions we've gotten in the last few years is 'When are you going to make a Ratchet & Clank movie?'," Insomniac Games community lead James Stevenson said in a statement. "The truth is, we've wanted to do a movie for a long time! Ratchet & Clank's action, humor and galaxy-spanning adventures have really been the basis for a fantastic game series, and we think it’d translate perfectly to the big screen."

As for why the movie was not developed at Sony Pictures, Stevenson explained that "the movie business is crazy at times."

Insomniac will have a "hands-on role" in the film's production, screenplay, character development, and animation consulting. In addition, Ratchet & Clank writer T.J. Fixman--who has written every Ratchet & Clank game--will pen the script for the film.

IGN3 reports that primary production on the film has begun and voice actors from the game franchise will work on the movie. James A. Taylor (Ratchet), David Kaye (Clank), and Jim Ward (Qwark) are all aboard. In addition, the Rainmaker Entertainment president Michael Hefferon teased that the studio is "in discussion with potential celebrity talent" for the Ratchet & Clank movie.
