A new version of webMAN has been released, featuring more options, fixes and button combos.
webMAN by DeanK is a plugin for Cobra 7.0 and PRX-Loader that allows you to mount and select PS3 game backups very quickly, efficiently and directly from the XMB.
Well, another version is now available (v1.20), and features the following changes:
webMAN 1.20 is now available for download:
* Added more delays for AUTOBOOT.ISO/lastgame when startup-content-scan is disabled
* [L3]+[R2]+[X] (shutdown) and [L3]+[R2]+[O] (restart) combos are more responsive now
* www server tweaked a bit to conserve memory and still serve all requests
* [SELECT]+[L1] (previous) and [SELECT]+[R1] (next) allow you to load the last three games/videos you loaded without the need of a browser/My Games
Refresh XML - refreshes mygames.xml for "My Games" XMB entry (/refresh.ps3)
Refresh HTML - refreshes games.html - the [Games] list for browser mode (/index.ps3?html)
The game list for browser mode is cached and won't cause scan each time you open the page.
There should be no duplicates for network games (unless you have more than one copy)
This version should support larger games collections
Fixed issues with last-game and slow usb drives when startup content scan is disabled
The game list (for browser mode) is cached as /dev_hdd0/tmp/wmtmp/games.html and is refreshed only if you press [Refresh HTML] or if more than 12 hours have passed since the last refresh.
NOTE: I don't know if I mentioned it before, but... DO NOT use [Refresh XML] / [Refresh HTML] while playing games. These functions require memory and for the short time they operate the game may run out of memory and crash. Use these ONLY while in XMB.
I don't think I ever posted webMAN's source before, so here it is... Not very clean and tidy, but...
I think the application is now mature enough (for just a month of development) and folks can use it as a base for something... I do hope tho, that we won't see 'name'-clones like "venixMAN", "johny13's supercool XMB"-plugin... I know people LOVE putting their names on everything, but I hope this time it won't happen
Weird enough for the last two months we didn't see any plugins of any kind... I wonder why...
Improved memory usage in FTP service - now memory will be allocated only when you transfer files
Fixed small issue with memory allocation when copying ICON0.PNG from mounted PS3 ISO games
Added additional checks for available memory, preventing game/video playback crashes if user uses [Refresh XML] or [Refresh HTML] while in-game
New option in [Setup]: Plugin memory usage: Standard (1024KB), Min (320KB), Max (1408KB)
The standard one uses 1MB of memory (as it always did) when doing the initial scan and generating the [Games] list for browser mode.
The minimal one uses just 320KB (over 3 times less) and if you don't have more than 300 games it should be the better option.
Using the "minimal" mode I get about 2400KB free memory reported in /cpursx.ps3 page, compared to 1500-1800KB when using the standard one.
Those of you who had issues with net games, can you try the new Min option and see how it goes?

New PCB revisions and new version of the Cobra ODE released
The Cobra ODE QSV offers incredible value to newer console owners, being considerably lower in price than the regular Cobra ODE.
We have today released a new version of the Cobra ODE QSV, which caters specifically for users of 2k5,3k and 4k/4k2 console owners. The QSV version of the Cobra ODE is fully compatible with all software updates, but does not support older PATA/SATA FAT consoles or 2k/2k1 series SLIM consoles.
Since many owners do not require the USB cables included in the full Cobra ODE pack, the QSV package does not include the USB cables, nor does it include the power cables required for FAT consoles or the additional FFC cables required for FAT PATA and SATA CECHx/2k/2k1, since these consoles are not supported on the Cobra ODE QSV. The overall RRP has been considerably lowered as a result.
We now therefore offer two packages, the regular Cobra ODE, supporting almost all console revisions (PATA/SATA FAT **excluding BMD-21 BD drive control boards, SATA SLIM and Super SLIM consoles) and the new Cobra ODE QSV which supports only 2k5/3k SLIM and 4k/4k2 SUPER SLIM consoles.
Enjoy Cobra ODE on later model consoles at a lower price and have peace of mind that the QSV is fully compatible with the regular software and hardware updates!
We have now added an installation manual to the downloads section which reflects installation on the console versions which it supports..
An installation manual for the QSV version is also available.
For more info and support on the Cobra QSV please see the thread in the Official Cobra Support Forums linked below:
Now that v1.8 just got released with IRD support, the Cobra ODE is even better, and makes ISO's just as good as 3k3y did, so if you have not gotten an ODE yet for your PlayStation 3 console, check out some of our recommended resellers below:
ModchipsDirect is a US based Cobra-ODE reseller and our official recommended reseller.
They ship to US customers from the US starting at only $4.5.
They also ship to Canada/Mexico via 2 day DHL for only $19.99.

The second biggest shopping day is CyberMonday following Black Friday on the America Thanksgiving Long Weekend, and its become such an online madness that webshops are packed with CyberMonday deals!
There is big debate and fight growing over what day is the biggest now direct in-person shopping for deals on Black Friday in crowded stores or malls, or relaxing at-home online shopping for deals on Cyber Monday in overloaded webshops crashing just before you click BUY on the very last one available in online madness of clicking for deals.
And as such we like to hop into some of that madness, and remind our loyal readers here, that we too also have an unique online webshop called 'MaxStore' and it well does not directly have a Cyber Monday deal, it does have everyday a 'Day of Deal' and today's deal is May Flash PS2 Controller Bluetooth Adapter for Andriod/iOS/PC for only $22.45
And also after completing the merger of all the Crunch sites and MaxConsole, you will find a now very active 'Buy/Sell/Trade' forum that has great personal deals from your follow loyal readers, and also some specials from our site sponsors from time to time, like today one from ModChipsDirect offering a bunch of good deals on products like Cobra ODE and Gateway 3DS, so check it out, cash in on the savings before they are gone as there is no such thing as Cyber Tuesday yet!
Or if you have your own personal things you wish to get rid of today with a online yard sale Cyber-Monday style, publish it in our new Buy/Sell/Trade forum which we will be expanding this week with sections for trusted console mod-installers and system repairs.
We will update this news posting with more deals as we spot them rolling in, and if you come across a great Video Gaming related deal today, please share it with us and your fellow MaxConsole by posting it as reply in our now super-expanded MaxConsole Forums.
Deank is back with another update for his webMAN plugin, featuring more options, rewritten auto-fan-control mode, and more!
webMAN by DeanK, is a plugin for Cobra 7.0 and PRX-Loader that allows you to mount and select PS3 game backups very quickly and efficiently directly from the XMB.
Well, a new version has been released with new options and features. Here's the full changelog for v1.18:
For webMAN 1.18 I added:
[x] Disable content scan at startup
[x] Disable remote access to FTP/WWW services
You can use the first option if you don't change your games too often. Once you need to refresh the game list (xml) you can do it in [Games] -> [Refresh]. This affects only XMB and not the browser mode.
With the second option you can disable access to your PS3 from remote computers. Once the option is enabled you can access webMAN setup only from the PS3 browser itself.
I'm trying to make fan-control work a bit better and I'll release the update later. I also tested the ftp speeds and all seems ok... 10MB/s upload to the PS3 and ~6MB/s download from the PS3.
I rewrote the auto-fan-control mode and it should be much better now... At least it looks to me it is better
Manual fan control is now a free-text option in [SETUP]: 20% - 99%
Added support for second network server
Fixed loading of last NETWORK game on startup when content scan is disabled
Make sure to enter setup and save the new options. Because of the path change for network games (from /net to /net0 and /net1) you will have to [Refresh] you network content.
First PS4 Jailbreak method detailed inside! -- Is it real or not?
Just one day before the official release in Europe, the Playstation 4 has been hacked at least it seems so with this fancy pastebin and Sony demands the jailbreak files to be removed from the Internet
No, this is not a joke, a Jailbreak has already been released for the PS4, but is the info the real deal?
The info released by Recks0r claims the Playstation 4 has been hacked already by using an exploit in the Orbis OS found in only 5 days by long-time scene developer called x-s4nd3r that only posts on Brazilian hacking site that is only reachable via TOR 'net.
Here's part of the pastebin detailing the process that Reckz0r wrote:
I have been away for a while, so my question to you is; did you miss me? I am aware that ya'll were all thirsty for a cup of a fine Reckz0r release, so here I am...with a fine fuckin' glass of a RECKZ0R release, yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! (did that sound sarcastic?)
Before I get off started ridiculing Sony, I'd like to pay homage to Sir George Hotz, who looked into the eyes of Sony and made them ejaculate as they bowed down in fear. Very artistic of you, Geohotz.
Now that, George Hotz has resigned from engaging in all types of sexual activities with an computer, and as all fans of PlayStation are crying for the comeback of GeoHotz..I'd let you all know, you don't need that lil fuckin' faggot. You really don't.
Well, alright....LET'S GET STARTED ALREADY!
As you all know, PS4 runs Orbis OS, that is highly based on FreeBSD (which is a opensource operating system), and as the PS4 is closely identical to a PC, I guess you all knew that PS4 and the Xbox One will probably end up getting pwned soon, and now..its time.
NOTE: I did not find this vulnerability within PS4, nor did I write the exploit, while I was browsing thru an Brazilian console-hacking forum known as condinh0 (I am sure you all know this if you hang out at TOR). A person named x-s4nd3r released the devkit of PS4, as well as the exploit within 5 days of PS4 release. Although most of you don't know how to apply that jailbreak on the PS4, I am making this tutorial to sort this shit out for you.
Console: PlayStation 4
Type: Privilege Escalation/Buffer Overflow (allows to run assigned code)
