curious, my friend is using 5.03 hen (psp-3000) and im using 5.00m33-6 (psp-2000)

i tried out wifi with him, and we could not locate each other to play. using my psp-1000 and my psp-2000 5.00m33-6 on both, i was successful with wifi play.

is it a known problem that it wont work with 5.03hen? or is his psp's wifi damaged. note, he bought it on ebay used.
