Some super freaky adverts have emerged from the Chilean Playstation team. In the adverts, one shows a modern gamer giving a blood transfusion to a Nazi and the other also shows a fairly looking modern gamer giving a heart transplant to Joan of ARC.

Oh geez...what kind of genius came up with that idea?? Better yet who actually though a gamer giving a blood transfusion to a Nazi would be a good enough idea to accept the advertising proposal in the first place. Creating a buzz is good thing...flat out offending people is not. Im convinced that whoever is in charge of advertising for Sony secretly hates them.

I think the Nazi at least based on the uniform is supposed to be Rommel but most people that see it are simply going to think "Nazi? WTF?". Sometimes bad publicity is worse than no publicity...I think this is going to be one of those times.

What Nazi symbol on the unifrom all I see is the normal military symbol on the hat. Its only the symbol on the headrest of the bed that leads me even to think anything Nazi. Seems more like an advert for a war shooter as it seems to say for me putting life back into the enemy.

Its thought provoking clearly as I see different to others buts not going to be seen the same by none gamers. So don't quite see the point.

I think whoever this douchebag dumbass is at Sony is the son or daughter of a top-tier executive so this person isn't getting fired for shitty advertising ideas, but just shifted around the company.

Im guessing this is the heart of the ps2 is being taken out and added back to ps3. as ps2 is dying off.
The smile on his face leads me to think this is to make consumers happy but who knows...

The dungeon and the surprised look might suggest a secret project thats why its hidden away and not in a reg hospital. But with sony... the secret is probably psp go.

The nazi crap has me total stumped though... sucks the money (blood) out of young men (gamers) to keep a dying nazi (sony) alive????

Its pretty clear that its a Nazi uniform...most over high school age can recognize them if they paid attention to any history class or watched any of the hundreds of WWII based movies. I think people misunderstand what I was saying...I find it extremely stupid but am not offended...like I said was pretty sure it was Rommel who is known as being the "good" Nazi (if there can be such a thing), most however will just see it as a nazi and many will freak out. With Germany's paranoia about the display of Nazi related imaging can you imagine what will happen if the press there gets ahold of that? My point was simply that this is going to likely bring Sony alot of grief.

There are iron crosses, swastikas (on the headboards), etc...actually the larger image is even more disturbing to me mainly due to the pictures above the games bed, look at the Nazi officers and German planes...its like he is a fan. As I said, personally I dont care...but lots of people will.

And so from his lack of involvement with the crimes of the Nazi party and the ss and his part in ploting Hitler's downfall I see him as the desert fox he was, military leadr and Monty's nemesis.

Yep your right about Rommel...the problem is that 95% of people dont know that and the symbolism will just say "Nazi" to them. You even admitted yourself that you would not have know that it was Rommel...the bottom line is advertising that requires a side note and explanation is not good advertising.

To be honest i wouldn't even consider sony is someone didn't say this was from sony. I sure do not feel like going to buy a ps3 because of this ad.

Surely ads are ment to encourage people to buy their product... but im lost on what this has to do with anything...
My best guess is
1) its sony... so it makes no sense
2) its some wired bioshock 2 ad campaign.
3) its a kayne west type of bad hype is good hype as it gets people talking
4) the director of marketing is married to sonys CEO`s daughter.
5) its a story ad deal.. where you get pieces of the story but wont understand until you get them all.

I really thought for a moment "That's it, after Formula 1, it's Sony's turn ..." Until I came to realize the existence (and meaning) of this Erwin Rommel, which has a completely different meaning to the add, at least for me.

I mean I enjoyed playing CoD 5 Wow even when Im a Nazi, actually, I dont even care and I think that's part of the message. Although I severly forbid any supportive nazi campaign or whateva, it's just a game. thats how I take it.

Nuff said, let's just remember the whole mess with the black and white commercial some time ago. People see swastikas and they think nazi, I would say a great deal of the world has come to associate the two; if not because of WWII, because of KKK members in modern times.... or are you going to tell me that 99% of the worlds population wouldn't think a white person with a tattoo of a swastika is not a white supremacist?

Let's forget that, and just let's address danights question... What in God's name does this has to do with the playstation? does this want to make anyone buy a playstation? is anyone sort of intrigued at what they might be thinking? I would say no.... in fact I'm starting to get scared my ps3 might be giving off some sort of undetectable radiation that disrupts a persons normal thinking faculties, or is there some other explanation for these commercials? I think advertising should be pretty similar to writing an essay; at the very least you should follow the main rule which is to stay on topic.

its a lame advert, it doesn't show anything about the ps3 as usual.

is this advert supposed to show the crazy good looking graphics ps3 doesn't have? to me those pictures represent an ingame screenshot, and that is very misleading.
