MS using tape to fix busted Xbox 360's?

After opening up an Xbox 360 that had previously been repaired by MS, a user was shocked to find that the DVD drive was very securely taped to the Xbox 360. Not quite the most innovative solution there from Microsoft.

The title says all, today I was fixing one of my friends Xbox 360. Since he knew that I have done it before he thought that I should be able to do it and it will be fixed. Well, while taking it apart I noticed that the dvd drive wouldn’t come off after all of the screws were unscrewed. So I looked and to my eyes i find a piece of silver tape that was holding the DVD drive to the Xbox 360. Now the first word that comes to the mind is…really?! We all know that the Xbox 360 had launch problems and Microsoft tried to fix it but I don’t think using tape to make sure the DVD drive won’t move really isn’t the smartest idea. So after scraping off the tape, I manage to get it off after ending up having to use a flat head screwdriver because the tape was literally super glued to the DVD drive and the Xbox 360.

    ****

    AND

This is for all the people calling me a dumb ass etc.
This is the first time I have ever seen this on a console. This is all “In my experience”, thanks to the some who took it in a polite way and kindly corrected me. But like I said, this was my first time ever seeing this on a electronic device. I understand that this is common in electronic devices now.

Thanks again to those who helped kindly clear it up.
Perhaps read on before putting it on the frontpage

What a dumb ass, that tape is on EVERY x box. I have opened up a lot of them before and a lot more since last week, and everyone of them has that tape holding in the drive and then spiney little slivers of metal on the side rails. Even my launch 360 had that silver tape.
    BAHAHAHAAA!

What did we learn kids about not opening our mouths without reading up on stuff first...

I believe it really just holds the drive in place and maybe helps it from wiggleing around. I'm not sure....maybe its how they know you hacked lolz.
