    MS: We've banned up to 1 million Xbox 360 owners recently

    Microsoft has confirmed that they will have/will ban anywhere from 600,000 to 1 million Xbox 360 owners from LIVE should their systems be illegally modified. MS noted that modifying an Xbox 360 violates their terms of use and will result in a LIVE ban.

    <blockquote>Anywhere between an estimated 600,000 and 1 million players who use Microsoft's Xbox Live gaming service will be cut off from the service because they have modified their game consoles or played games that were illegally downloaded from file-sharing sites, according to the company.

    "All consumers should know that piracy is illegal and that modifying their Xbox 360 console violates the Xbox Live terms of use, will void their warranty and result in a ban from Xbox Live," Microsoft said in a statement Wednesday. </blockquote>

    Almost every single person I know who has gotten banned has gone out and instantly bought a PS3. Thanks microsoft, for showing us who the better company is.

    Having me say this is extreme, i have been an xbox fanboy for a long time now. But guess what im playing now.. PS3!

    If you did NOT MOD your fricking xbox you would have NOT been banned.

    The ps3 is not moddable so you are going to buy the games over there. Sony would have banned you also if you where pirating there games.

    People are retarded to say that.

    Yeah microsoft banned me because I pirated all my games. Now I am going to buy all of my games on the ps3 because sony does not ban people that buy games...

    It is sad that you or your friends didn't realize it was against the rules? Obviously if you break them be sure you will get busted sooner or later.

    I read so many people get angry and complain about being banned, but well I am sure if Ps3 was modify to play non original games and you will get caught 2. And then what? Go and play your old Nes games

    HA HA HA HA i haven't got banned yet. Come and get me!!!!! Now to be serious MS have the right to do what they do and just say if half of the people that got banned do get a PS3, sounds like MS would rather have that and modified consoles. The firmware I'm using is 1.61 but didn't play any of the new games that have the new wave four. So well see if i get banned or not and trust me i wont be crying about it, I'll just go buy a new one and most likely mod that one too. I only play ODST do have a copy and original but my drive always scratch my discs. I would like to know if having the newest 1.61 firmware and stealth patching my ODST to play online using abgx, can MS detect my console. If they do then they finally found a way to really catch all modded console. Its a Cat and mouse game.

    Was I crying in that statement. Was just trying to show that MS is losing money to people like me that actually do buy games. But since I have no need for an online xbox right now, I will purchase mw2 for ps3.

    Didn't buy all your games, did you? What you ended up showing is that you knowing broke the ToU contract and are now "sticking it to the man" by buying your games. Here here. Doesn't matter what platform you're buying it on. Keep on supporting the devs and publishers. That'll show'em.

    OK so I think it's pretty shiesty of ms to cripple HDDs, but since when has pirating games become our God given right? I never received that demo.... Look guys ms, sony, nintendo don't care about anyone that doesn't buy games. If your sole reason for owning a 360 was downloading games then ms will gladly lose you as a customer, and I'm 100% sure the same applies for sony and nintendo.

    Wow when this was reported earlier with the source being some call center I thought it was a bunch of b/s but now that MS has confirmed this....wow...that is amazing. I didn't believe that 360 owners would actually be stupid enough to get online with their modified 360s. I guess it's true, us Americans are stupid.
