i got the rrod a while back and sent it to ms
they sent it back repaired and still modded
they put in a bigger heat sink
that was a year and a half ago
its got the rrod again and its out of warranty
(even 3yr rrod warranty is expired)
could it still be a heating problem even with the bigger heat sink?
dont wanna x-clamp it if its gonna be some other hardware fault

Idk dude it's pretty much impossible not to get the RROD. I got it last year on the newest model available.
i did x-clamps and dont forget to bake the gpu at least 2 times (thats what i did) and it worked
My first console got the RROD but my new one is going strong, had my old console for 4 years before the RROD, it's fixed and is a backup xbox now... The MW2 250GB Elite is fast and silent, a good buy and has a large HDD tht hasn't been filled yet even with ll the DLC and games installed on it
Mate just rework the gpu with flux and reassemble...add xtra fans inside...if kept cool enough it will last for a very long time...
