Microsoft to pay News Corp to blacklist Google?

The world of news is buzzing with indications that MS may well offer to 'bribe' News Cop to get its news websites delisted from Google. It is no secret that Murdoch is not happy that Google 'steal' News Corp content and previously demanded that they pay a pittance.

It's an ugly rumor. There's no way Microsoft would resort to bribing Web sites to get delisted from Google, is there? I mean, aside from the restraint of trade issues and the callback to the tribulations the company went through with its dirty Internet Explorer tricks, Microsoft has learned to compete fairly, right? Not so, according to the reports stemming from a Financial Times article, which highlights the company's desire to team-up with Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., in order to screw Google.

This whole thing began when Murdoch began to complain that Google was "stealing" News Corp. content. He demanded that the company pay a pittance or he would pull the plug, preventing Google from spidering its sites. Google searches provide between 25 and 50 percent of the page views of just about any site. This includes blogs, newspapers, everything. Would Murdoch throw away 25 to 50 percent of his sites' revenue just to spite Google? Yeah, right.

Well if anyone could go against microsoft, its probably google.

Actually this all started with a comment in an opinion column about what Bing could do and has since blossomed into an out of control rumor. Murdoch does have it out for google though...absolutely hates them and has mentioned being delisted repeatedly...I wouldn't be surprised to see I'm try to coax something out of MS to do it though. I think its the wrong move, but cant really blame him, the newspaper business is dying, and getting something is better than getting nothing...which is what he gets from google. Frankly I think google is a bit short sighted in regards to google news...if the news sites like News Corp go under...whats left to aggregate? A bunch of blogs and rumor sites?
