FFXIII box leaked: No install and 1080P full HD CGI sequences

According to reports, the box of Final Fantasy XIII has been leaked. And with this news comes some little tidbits of information such as: No mandatory install, 1080P full HD for CGI sequences but the game does naturally run in 720P.

While the game itself does run in 720p, this means the FMVs on PS3 will be of the highest possible quality. This may be the advantage PS3 will have over Xbox 360, as fitting lossless audio and large FMVs on a DVD will prove difficult.

For sure the best rpg of ever. I thinked run 1080p for ps3. 720p for ps3 is bad. I think that this choice is due to the fact of difference of disk space for 360.

I don't know, but I personally like "OPTIONAL" installs. If it helps me shave off 2 - 3 secs of loading times, then I don't mind waiting 5 - 10 min for it to install. I just don't like it when you are required to do an install.

Anywho, I would rather everything be equal on both versions, so as to try to avoid the inevitable flame war that will ensue if one version has something better than the other one. Quite frankly 1080p vs 720p cgis isn't a big deal, but as we know it will suddenly become a make or break feature to some.

That's what I was thinking as well. I'm a longtime fan of the FF series, but none of them has every been to close to the best RPG I've played, so I don't know why the 100th FF would suddenly be the best RPG ever.

FF13 may have the best cut scenes ever. The FF games do that really well. The family always wants to be there to watch them with me, though they would never play the game on their own.

if it is, they wouldnt hold back on the ps3 to make porting to 360 easier. if it is indeed 720p its because it needs to be. the ps3 isnt some mystical powerhouse. high def gaming as it was advertised as 1080p by sony before hasnt really happened in anything aside from psn games.

it isnt going to change for something as big as final fantasy.

Lead development platform? that would be the PC its meant to be playable as well, nobody has told us if it will ever be released though.

Ironically, right of the top of my head I would say the best RPG I've ever had the pleasure of playin was Xenogears. The only RPG that came close to causing the same impression on me was Star Ocean II. Of course, there are other great RPG games that I've played, but nothing had me glued to the screen and completely out of focus in my everday life like those 2 games.

That's true. Just like Uncharted 1&2, Motorstorm 1&2, Killzone 2, Resistance 1&2, Heavenly Sword and all of those other Sony titles have chosen to run at 720p due to the difference of disk space for 360.

only reason to buy it for ps3 is if you despise multiple discs, which alot do, but again most of those that do are sony fanboys.

personally i'd rather install each disc an play them off a hd, where it's only possible on the 360.

ff13 won't be no greatest rpg ever, but it should be an improvement over the last few and probably be best since 7 or 8.

Gran Turismo 5 isn't 1080p either, its Sony's stupid way of fooling you all. Its 1080p, sure... But not true 1080p. 1080p is 1920x1080, which is 2,073,600 pixels. GT5 runs at 960x1080, which is 1,036,800 pixels. That’s not even close to 1080p, but because they use 1080 lines in progressive for the vertical they can quote it as being 1080p. Its certainly not "true HD".

Some of you guys really need to take off the rose tinted glasses you have for various platforms. "All future PS3 exclusives will be 1080p" oh really? That’s amazing! I didn't know you could predict the future to such an extent as to tell us all how UGLY the games will be then? Because to most of you fanboys, GT5 is "like real life, stunning, amazing", yet even that cant be true 1080p, and that’s just a driving game. You guys make me laugh, slap a few million polygons on a car and its the best looking game ever? "Polycount makes a game not". What about art direction and gameplay? Gameplay, something the GT series hasn't changed at all since birth, and is still just as dull as ever?

Going back to the original topic before I turn red...

FFXIII will likely be uncompressed audio and 1080p video with 720p gameplay for PS3, with no installs and one disk. To me that reads "The video will be lovely, the audio will be something only 1% of the market will hear the difference in, the gameplay will look nice (READ: Look, no mention of play), it will likely load **** loads slower than the 360 version (Unless BR suddenly caught up to DVD speed when I wasn’t looking...? No? Didn't think so.) and you wont have to get up to change a disk.

Which, lets face it, is the most important thing... I mean who wants to get up and change a disk after 20 hours, Jesus, what is this, 1999? Crazy!

The only real plus point the PS3 has over the 360 version of FFXIII is the 1080p video. That’s all. Nothing else. For all we know, the 360 may be faster loading, as its been proven before, and it may even have a smoother frame rate... Its just idle speculation, but given what I've seen so far, possible.

And that right there is where the discussion both starts and stops. Everything else is speculation and blatant lies thrown around by fanboys of both sides. As an owner of all the systems, yeah, I have my list. It goes PC > 360> Wii > PS3. But that’s based on the games I like, the experience I have and just "ME" in general. But I wont sit there and listen to some 13 year old kid on a forum spout bullshit remarks like he’s the King of England just because Daddy bought him a PS3 for Christmas with a copy of Super Best Evar Fifa two thousand and Ten".
