    A little help with backups

I've seen many different posts all over about how to run backups. None of them have worked for me.
I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong and would really appreciate some help.
    I have firmware 3.1U and maxell 1-16X DVD-R's.
I do not have access to the internet on my Wii (I've seen some guides that say it's required)
What do I need to have/do to get my backups working?

What are you using to run backups? Also what are you trying to run and have you got the latest IOS files needed for them?

im using Wiigator's backup loader and I'm trying the new super mario bros and sonic and the secret rings.
Which IOS do I need and how do I load it without connecting my wii to the internet?

I have personally always used DVD+R's and have rarely made a coaster. Just my opinion on it. I have also used verbatim's all the way down to Windata and have never had any major problems. Every is a little different though.
