Middle Green Light Blinking

i turn on my xbox 360 and the middle green light blinks continuously. its the light that blinks when your opening and closing the dvd drive. i press the eject button and it says opening then closing and finally just says open tray. i can physically get the tray out and when it is fully open, the light stops blinking. i can hear the motor going in the dvd drive when i press the eject button but the tray never works. i got the xbox off of craigslist in a package deal, so if has to do with flashing it (most info i have searched on, flashing the drive comes up) i can try to fix it that way. i have flashed a dvd drive before so i know a little about it. thanks in advance.

Firstly this is the original xbox section of the forums, you would get more answers in the 360 section.
Check that the sata and power leads are plugged in all the way on the dvd-rom and motherboard. If it still has that center blinking light its possible the previous owner messed up when flashing it with ixtreme firmware. Also it could be that the dvd-rom's motor is failing.
