MS turns to celebrities for Project Natal push

A trade publication reports that MS is looking to celebrities to support the launch of Project Natal. Non gaming media such as Vogue have been targeted to build up momentum for project Natal. It is also though that MS will be going after parenting press and toy publications to eat away at the Wii's market share.

MCV understands that format-holder Microsoft is already planning early promotional efforts for the camera device to include celebrity endorsements and coverage in non-games media.

Microsoft this week invited an ‘elite selection of media’ and non-games firms to attend a VIP showcase. The likes of Vogue and Glamour have been targeted in a bid to build awareness for its upcoming motion-tracking peripheral.

By courting areas like the parenting press, toy retailers and publications which primarily cater for non-gamers, the format holder will be directly chasing the core Wii audience Nintendo has built in the last four years.

Maybe they ought to concentrate on getting games for those celebrities to play before thinking about getting celebrities to show off the system. Unless I get the likes of Kate Bekinsale, Tricia Helfer, Claudia Black etc. with the games some face that is likely not intrested in the anything to to with Natal other than the paycheck for putting their face to it, i'm notintrested. It's money better spent elsewhere in my view.
    My gaming systems -
    Consoles - Wii, Xbox 360 Elite, Xbox 360 Jtag Jasper 2TB 3.5" HDD, PS3 60GB UK launch version, PS3 hacked with 500GB 3.5" HDD (2TB wouldn't work ).

    PC - i7 3930K @4.6GHZ, Asus Rampage IV Extreme, 2xRadeon 7970, 32GB DDR3, 4TB Raid HDD (4X Samsung Spinpoint F3, SSD boot drive OCZ Vertex 3 120GB )

These are gaming systems I am biased towards (may as well throw in everything from last gen and before as if the PC can emulate it I am likley to have it)

Waste of money to pay pseudo celebrities and never a cut price for games. The best advertising and cut the price, "by word of mouth" will sell more, without resorting to these Bullsh*t. Nobody is so stupid to buy a "project Natal" just because it sponsored by someone famous.
