The closest to any "free" points is that in the EU you can trade star points for nintendo points (at least at one point).
In regards to running ISOs using USB loader (If you want a disc based method then say), I will write up a new set of instructions at somepoint (tomorrow if all goes well).
when i run cios 222 and try to install cios 249 it doesn't work (screen freezes) and wakinkoko's cios v19 the wii remote loses connectivity and i cannot choose an option

Are you using the latest CIOS installer (v20b).
no could you post a link to a download site that has it
Thinking about it, did you install those missing IOS files using Dop-mii or try updating USB loader?

Have you updated the HBC to 1.0.8? If so then:
Install all ios except 16, x0, 58 and 2xx.
I suggest having the bootmii backup first though.
