Save Games Straight From BD to PC with PS3 FTP Server

Like it says.. Save Games Straight From BD to PC with PS3 FTP Server

1: Start up PS3 FTP Server

2: Browse to folder 'dev_bdvd' on the PS3 and transfer the entire contents to a folder named as that games Disc ID (BLESXXXX) on your PC.

When you want to play it..

1: Start up PS3 FTP Server

2: Browse to folder (BLESXXXX) on your PC and transfer the entire folder to 'dev_hdd0/game/LAUN12345/GAMEZ' on your PS3.

It will appear next time you open Backup Manager.. Good for storing those games with files over 4GB..

Just thought I'd mention.. It took about 30-40min to transfer Resident Evil 5 (11.2GB) from the PS3 HDD to PC .. and about 30-40min to transfer NFS:Shift (3.88GB) from the PS3 BD to the PC and back again using FTP.

About 30-40min to transfer NFS:Shift (3.88GB) from the PS3 BD to the PC and back again using FTP.

I'm using FileZilla was getting speeds inbetween 8MB-18MB p/sec.

So not too bad.. If you are one of those people that gets stuck into one game for a couple of days or more it's not to much stress and keep in mind you only have to do it for the games that won't go on an external..

You don't get the decrypted eboot.bin this way so this is about as good as downloading one of those pre-jb scene releases. You'll have all the files, but without the decrypted eboot.bin, you won't be able to boot through backup manager.

It works.. Try it before you flame it!

Started NFS:Shift (from Backup Manager with GOW in the BD Drive) and all is good the PS3 told me I need to update the game software to v01.03 (haven't played it for a while) which I am doing now (I have the DNS set to 67.202.81.137).

    No problems so far.... .... .... .... .... .... Damn it..

Downloaded the update and got an error when it went to install (Sorry forgot to write it down).

Anyway.. Apart from that the game runs fine dumping straight from the BD to PC via FTP no Backup Manager involved until you want to play..

UPDATE: Thought I would try moving one of my PSN games to the Backup Manager directory and it did appear but when I went to start it Backup Manager alerted me that it was an unsupported eboot..

    Ty for info

Eff the flamers man! If it worked or if it didn't its one less thing somebody else has to try. Thanks for the info man. Would still rather store it on a big ass drive, although im sure the internal read times are far superior (usb 1.1 vs 5400 rpm drive?)

    OK.. To clear this up..

IT WORKS when you dump a game from the PS3 BD to PC and back to PS3 HDD
    via FTP.

IT WORKS when you dump a game from the PS3 HDD to PC and back to PS3 HDD
    via FTP.

THE GAME WILL PLAY FROM BACKUP MANAGER..

UPDATING the GAME software DID download (DNS set on PS3) but DID NOT INSTALL.

EDIT: Please try the steps in the first post (It's not like it's hard to follow.. 2 Steps.. Come on) before telling me that it doesn't work and why.. Thank you

yeah man that's all what's important, long as you can transfer the dumps back an forth it's all good.

so now once more people hack they're ps3, there should be alot more ps3 dumps on the net i'd say, just like with every other console after it was hacked.

Nah.. Just don't like sitting around wondering if it will or won't work.. Plus a bit of faith in the devs (all of them) helps..

Less talking more doing I say..

Lol I do agree about you being ballsy. I am on the paranoid side. The 1 time I have had to go online, I uninstalled Backup manager and made sure the exploit was not loaded (not sure if there are still any tracks left behind though) just to be on the safe side. I mean its not like its incredibly difficult to install/load again.

The way I figured (to my understanding) was it was once Backup Manager had been installed it is too late.. It's already logged on one or both of those 'pushlist' files..

I'm not sure though.. I guess time will tell..
