Is anyone aware whether restoring factory defaults also gets rid of the pushlist files?

Also, just to confirm (yes, I have read the instructions below carefully - but wan't to be absolutely sure) - is it safe to delete game.dat, patch.dat and boot_history.dat and then reboot (without replacing them with blank versions) without any ill effects?

Not sure if we know the answer to this yet, but does anything get pushed to the psn if you go generally online with the unit (but not psn)? Or is information only sent when you actually login to the psn (which is not possible below 3.50 anyway)?

Your right in the fact that.. NO.. We don't really know when/if these files are sent..

Better to be safe than sorry..

Thanks. So, as far as we know anyway, a pushlist delete and normal reboot before going online should be enough?

Is there no registry (in the Windows sense) with a record of installed apps?

Edit: I have looked at my logs of what web connections have been made by the unit and there is nothing there to suggest that any connections have been made anywhere except for the browsing I did through the internet browser.

Thanks for the great guide, I would like to add for those of us that are using Macs. The FTP programs out there are Cyber duck, Filezilla and Transmit. I had no luck using Blackbox with Cyber duck and Filezilla. Transmit worked smooth as silk and was fast. Note: Some, such as myself are not finding the LAUN12345 folder that's supposed to be within the game folder. I running the Gaia file manager and didn't have the LAUN12345 folder, however inside the game folder there was a GAMEZ folder, I transfered my games to that Gamez folder. The game showed up In Gaia manager, and when I started the game I got "this game has no EBOOT file do you want to repair" I clicked yes and every thing works fine!

Nobody knows that for sure especially if you've gone online with your jailbreak, it was just a precaution which Gaia manager deals with automatically now. Chances are though if you've booted up your console with the ethernet cable plugged in in jailbreak mode that Sony already knows what you're up to lol.

I am having the same issue. Does anybody have any idea what the problem could be? I am using PS3 FTP and Filezilla and have tried with different games. nothing seems to work!

    thanks

Try using BlackBox FTP 1.2 for the PS3 side..

This **** is whack. Unable to copy certain files from pc to ps3 hdd. Cos after copying, the file size vanishes. However the file remains. It has really annoyed me. No one seems to know how to get round this. I guess I'll just give the whole thing up as it appears this is just a waste of my time.

    Thanks

I've figured out you can temporarily reactivate your PSN Content and it is as simple as transferring your backup of..

'act.dat' or the entire 'exdata' folder (Depends on the situation)

to this folder on the PS3..

    'dev_hdd0\home\00000001\exdata'

It will be reactivated until you restart the PS3 again..

So go and backup the 'exdata' folder now if you haven't already!!..
If your going to use a downgrader on a 256MB NAND PS3
Absolutely make sure you also make a backup of Flash2 and Flash3.
Because this isn't enough to get PSN activation back at all on those machines.

I tried this guide and I still get connection timed out failed to transfer. Do you specifically need a cross over cable? Or can I do this with a standard patch cable? I'm trying with the ethernet cable that came with my 360 as it's all I have right now.
