PSP Newb confused on Homebrew scene.

Hey guys,
Im looking to buy a PSP for myself for XMAS.
I need to know weather a BRAND NEW psp 3000 (the GO is the most gimmicky pice of ****.) can be modded. I know it can't have perm CFW, but IDK what I can do with it. Ive found a load of old threads, but nothing after june 2010 really....
Also, do you guys kno where I can get A PSP2000 new (bsides ebay) that has a good chance of being modded?

Well, the scene has been waiting on a kernel exploit for 6.35. We know it exists and know that the release date for the exploit is this christmas.

The kernel exploit will work on all models, except I am a bit unsure if he will release it for the the GO.

I think it's pretty safe to buy any model with any firmware at this time.

(Meh, just don't import MHP3 and upgrade to 6.36 since the UMD is the only way.)

To run perm CFW on a 3000? or is the feeling "just screw it, tethered boot is good enuf."?

Unfortunately, Sony got smart.

They added new checks to the IPL (Practically boot up standard).

Things can be written, but not flashed (excuse my lack of explanation, I know that the NAND can't be flashed, so I assume that things can be written to flash directories, but not saved.) All most 3000's have the newer motherboards, and some of the 2000s have TA88v3 motherboards, which was the start of these checks to the IPL.


It's really not too much of a big deal. Total_noob's exploit runs 100% without problems.
