dont even need the hacked update, just use sonys, since you can sign your own code you can run anything you choose and the ps3 hypervisor will happily oblige.

dongle makers might have issues of course but nothing compared to the company that tried to put them out of business, all those expensive lawsuits and lawers and all for absolutely nothing.

Yeah after reading a bit more on some other sites I realized that its worse then being able to create a custom firmware (although thats one possibility) It makes the PS3 so open you can run what ever your heart desires. Good times I tell you lol

This is definitely cool and all, but I'll take this a little further. I want something that will allow us to decrypt ALL game data. If it's on the disc we buy, we should be able to modify it however we see fit. Especially when unlocking content that's "downloadable" when it already exists on the disc to begin with!

whilst that is true its irrelevant now because all the dlc now costs the same as its resale value so it doesnt matter if its on the disc or not.

If you are so down on their "shoddy overpriced hardware" then DON'T BUY IT!! Go buy some other console and shut up. i buy every console of every generation at least upto now (i wont of course buy sony in future), of course no one forced me to buy it, i did that as a choice, what i didnt choose was to later have sony fcuk it up. and no, i havent spent one penny on it since they did that, so which of us is the huge fcuking arsehole? the one who gets ripped off and stops paying or the one who accepts it and carries on lining the pockets of the perpetrator?

@cboushell - I would enjoy my ps3, if it wasn't for the fact that its merely a shadow of it's former self... This is thanks to SONY deciding to CHANGE WORDS, THEN FORCING ALREADY EXISTING OWNERS into a compromise. (My guess is you are a slim owner or never had OtherOS on your PS3 in the first place...)
