Things you would like to see the PS3 Homebrew scene

    For me:

An App like XBMC that we can run from the XMB that will allow greater compatibility for media files. I love my PS3 for what it can do but I still spend time converting files to run on it.

Some great emulators. I use my PSP and Wii for this right now but the PS3 is capable of some great emulation (maybe Dreamcast or Saturn....or even PS2!).

FTP style application allowing us to transfer saves (even protected game saves) to other systems or PC.

List of crap: Xbox360, Wii, PSP, PSPgo, 3 PS3s, Saturn, Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube, 2-Xboxs, DSi XL, 4-PCs.....and many other older consoles packed away somewhere because of the emulation scene.

Something as powerful as XBMC is going to be on top of everyone's list . I'd like to see a better browser too, the one on the PS3 isn't overly compatible!

One thing that always bothered me was that I couldn't take a video file, put it on a USB stick, shove it into the PS3, and watch the video. Was I doing it wrong, was the format not supported, or is this really something I need from a CFW?

Streaming more formats is definitely the highest on my list, next to being able to put my purchased games on the hard drive. If that's considered ISO loading then delete this comment, but it's one of the greatest things to do with my PSP since it makes loading soooooo much more bearable. It'd also be really nice for MGS 4 since I hate that I have to re-load the game any time I want to change chapters.

A program that displays the system's internal readings, think Everest Ultimate Edition on PC but for PS3. For those of us who are interested in what's going on in our recovered YLOD systems.

XBMC and Emulators is all I care for, any information on these would be greatly appreciated.

A better media player with better codec and container support like VLC or XBMC, temp readings from inside the console would be nice, and support for ext file partitions, that way when I make a 8gb rip of one of my blu-ray movies I can just throw it on a usb drive.

On your USB stick you need to make a folder called VIDEO (yes all in caps) and put your files in there. should work like a charm

I'm using the ps3 media server, so I can wait for an All-in-one media player. What I'm looking forward to is some kind of skype like application or maybe being able to use skype itself on the ps3. This would allow me to contact family members without having to use the phone or without them needing to have a ps3 themselves and with video conferencing thanks to the pseye. Also, a new web browser/port wouldn't hurt.

    Definitely media capability update!

I'm thinking boxee and/or google tv - something along those lines would be great.

Also completely agree with the browser - the current one is shocking.

Ah Sony - should have just left otheros capabilities

megabox for other os already has those ( media player with mkv support and firefox with a selection of plugins) and emulators, you can also use it as a dtv / pvr with a usb dtv dongle so all you'd need is a downgrade to 3.15
