Wiikey original and 4.3e firmware, can i instal homebrew channel, use hard drive

I have a wii, which was modded many years ago with a WiiKey original
Over the years the games have increased the firmware to 4.3e

I have just realised that it was possible to load games from a hard drive,

I would love to do this for my children to save all those disc's

But is there a way from 4.3e to this

I am quessing that if i can obtain a homebreww channel then i could be there almost

any ideas or advise from the forum would be great

There are two options, one is to softmod (free) the console and the other is to get a hardmod (costs money).

For a softmod you need either an ntsc copy of SSBB or lego indiana jones and an SD card (recommend 1GB for backing up the NAND).

The only hardmod I am aware of which allows USB storage is WODE and wiikey fusion works with SD cards (thought not USB IIRC). Also bear in mind this requires opening the console, although I believe it's just to plug in a ribbon cable between the drive and mobo.

i thought only pal with the 4.3 as region free was disabled?

All consoles running vanilla 4.2/4.3 are region locked, not even a modchip can bypass on these firmware because they check the actual dol file and not just the disc (dol and elf files are the equivalent of exe files on the wii).

You have to softmod first to remove/bypass it.

with a soft mod, it way easer than any old mod chip, i 1st tried a mod chip before the soft mod's came out, almost fryed my wii soldering it in. than once i got it in the dam chip never work.

than i waited a few month untill the 1st soft mod came out the zelda twight hack.way easy to do

now my wii has a usb with over 50 games on it backup, that i own and play with usb loader.so it saves your wii's laser from dieing, from playing wii dvd backup's burned to dvd.

my wii is still on 3.2u, and still plays every wii game out there , plus home stuff
