Nokia's feeling the pain ever since they backed out of the Android alliance.

OK , so next step is Microsoft will buy Nokia like they did with Kinect company.
and we will see in the final , Microsoft-Nokia (windows) vs Sony-Ericsson (Android) vs Apple-iPhone (iOS). who is gonna win ?
    I own iPhone4 32GB , and I like it a lot ...

I dont think Microsoft owns the kinect company (could be wrong though). Apple wanted to though. When apple made a offer to the kinect tech people they wanted to take over the company. Microsoft i think just bought the tech for use, i think they can still liscence out the tech minus all the stuff Microsoft added to it.

I dont think Microsoft will but nokia either. I think the partnership works for both of them and they will probably be happy with it. But it seems to be a results now deal. meaning no results might break the deal (im guessing Microsoft added that clause).

I also dont think sony ericsson is who they are worried about. Its probably apple iphones and anything andriod.

Israeli kinect company was eaten by microsoft last year for ~25 milion usd.
They did this to own the kinect for 100% , it was damn good deal for microsoft.

As a maemo user this was the worst news ever. If Nokia was going third party why didn't they just go android?

They wanted their own OS to beat the others, but as iOS and Android became bigger and bigger they realized that they have the user base now, but they'll be obsolete soon. I'm sure they would've eventually gone Android if Microsoft didn't approach them. It's a good plan, Microsoft has the programmers and years of failure under their belt to learn from and Nokia has a large world wide user base.

As a Nokia employee, Im SUPER Excited about this news
WP7 is really state of the art OS, yes it IS missing tons of features, but i think with Nokia this will change for sure.

But still, very sad news for Meego, which I was so hyped about

    Anyway, lets wait and see.

i gather meego isnt binned but could be 2 or more years away from completion, this wp7 could help the company no end in the meantime.

I wasn't excited about this news, I mean Nokia have always had their own operating systems and they still sell millions.
Windows phone 7 is still a baby and has got a long way to go.
I just saw Nokias concept on Engadget though and it suddenly all makes sense.
Nokia hardware with a solid OS that will continue to be developed... I want

There will be a Meego device, but sadly its not going to be Nokia's flagship anymore!

Hopefully WP7 helps nokia, it really needs it, but many people are hating Nokia for going with WP7, For myself, Im optimistic

well this has kind of put me off, i was just about to update my constellation to the quest but now i'm going to wait a bit to see what happens there, i wonder if they will switch that to a wp7 base.

It seems that Microsoft is copying every move Sony makes. Sony is playing their Sony Erricson Playstation phone with Playstion Suit, so MS has to copy. Looks like MS is completing with Sony on every front. They partnering with LG on TV and xbox give a way deals just like Sony does with their Bravia TVs, now this. When will MS come up with something original?
