wont happen. Remember the used game sellers also sell your hardware. You cant screw retailers but so much and get away with it.

Not to mention computer games have been doing that for a while. Not really popular with the buyer since it has zer trade value after purchase.

I will never buy a game that has this. And I am sure many will follow suit and not support such games.

And if Sony does this for games like Uncharted 3 and such, I guess I will never play that game. Because they will never get my money.

I don't see anything strange here. The game is a MMORPG and doesn't use a product key but directly links to the PSN account, so it's normal that you can't share the game with others (or trade in it).

It's like having Final Fantasy XI on the Xbox360, you use the key to register and after that giving the DVD to other people without your account is useless.

It's just normal for every MMORPG, so it's really nothing new (excluded the fact that it automatically links to your PSN account so you don't need to write the key).

How about I just never buy games again? That will KO the brand-new market. Oh!

That is OK for an MMO in my opinion.

Thinking that maybe they should allow you to go online and print off a key - and essentially you sell the key. when the key is re-activated it's progress is lost and the game is now locked to another account.

Or enter a PSN account you wish to transfer to? what if your PSN gets banned? the physical disc you purchased is now no good? why is this a physical disc if the PS3 has online capibility and needs to be online for it to work? why couldn't it be a small download - is there that much data instantly needed that it had to come on a disc - couldn't load from a USB stick or DVD-R you could download?

Game reselling will be done by sony eventually... Kinda like a bank transfer, but for a game. All digital. I can't see why it wouldn't work, other than greed in an uncontrolled market. This digital lock scheme will never be developed for the end user regardless of how beneficial and stimulating it would be.

i never understood why wow and games like this require you to buy a disc when its all online anyway. plus when you log in wow has to download gigs of updates anyway so whats the point of the disc? just let people sign up online, pay their $16 and create an account. why nickle and dime us for $50 for the disc when we are going to be already paying $16 a month? should be like cell phones give it away free since they will be making it up in monthly fees.

@patstevens It's extra revenue but also ensures market presence and accounts for sales in public, they did offer this expansion digitally on day one but gamers still had to pay for it, most larger attempts in MMORPG gaming now use this method. As for not selling wow software.. previously you could sell the world of warcraft account at yours and the buyers risk but now blizzard require that all of their game keys are linked through one battle.net account, selling that means you'll also loose access to everything else on the account while the new owner will have everything.

This is nothing new for MMORPG content, they all come with keys to activate them and the disc is worthless for anything but installation unless sold with an account. I am fairly accepting of this process after many years of experience with the genre.

Zeus suggests maybe this has uses for locking an included key to your psn account preventing resale or even piracy of other games. This may be acceptable since Steam already does this and reassured everyone that if the service ever failed they would deactivate locks and allow gamers to reclaim their content, which gave many gamers the incentive to use the service.

In this case to use this system outside of MMORPG products i would need 100% assurance in the form of a legally binding contract from Sony to say that content is fully transferable, easy to deactivate and all locks will be removed at the end of the systems life.

This is fucking Bizzare. It's like Sony doesn't want to make money.

It's a MMO, it has a monthly subscription. Why stop the sale of the physical disc? If someone buys it used - Sony still get their money from the new subscription. No one looses.

But noooo, we have to **** over the great guys that buy our games new. By devaluing their purchase to $0 the moment they walk out the door.

I don't understand why people trade / sell games at gamestop etc. You barely get ANYTHING for trading your game maybe $15 if the game is really! popular and not that old. Might as well just keep it.

When i was younger and had no money, trading in always looked like a great idea for expensive new games even for poor amounts of store credit. I was always happy at the time and liked my new game but years later the regret set in and i ended up rebuying everything.
