So if its not a physical product then its not theft reading some posts. So why is Sony stopped from shipping ps3's as surely patent infringements are just harmless copying of ideas and nothing physical is taken, to use a very divisive example. Lots of poor excuses hear but in the end it does take away sales if not anywhere near as high as publishers think. Plenty on here boast they do not buy also so if piracy was not available they would have to buy or not game so there is lost sales there from that.

your analogy falls down on the fact that sony are profiting from stealing lg's ideas, thats like someone pirating a game then copying it to sell on a car boot or in a pub and i honestly dont think you'll find anyone (other than those who do it) who supports that idea.

ok lets say 50 out of 100 buy the game, thats still 50 sales not made because its downloaded for free, and a sale not made is still a lost sale, because that individual has not paid you for the game.

you need to open your eyes, you see all over the world people with trucks full of pirate music/dvds/games and theyre making millions selling knock offs cheaper than the orrigional, and thats why people pirate.

if a person never intended to purchase it anyway, how does that equal one lost sale if the person never intended on buying it, so that can't be counted as one sale lost. just because something is available to download doesn't mean that it's not a lost sale. if i didn't intend on buying something in the first place, there is no lost sale. but obviously some folk are one sided and will only see things their way.

also they (some folk) will also download games themselves, tell other people it's wrong, don't do it, but they will continue to download games? two wrongs don't make a right, but three rights make a left..

Now, does pirating translate to a sale? I don't care if you buy a game and make a million copies...if you keep those copies to yourself then no law has been broken or no sale has been lost. Give it away (Physical or digital) and that one person who gets the product without any monetary exchange going back to dev/pub = lost sale. Why would anyone buy a game after they've obtained it for free? How can so many people not use their brain and grasp this?
Of all those ps2 games you pirated, how many of those games did you pay for? Please don't tell me some bullshit like "Someone paid for them!" or "I bought most of the games I pirated!"
