Ok, so I've looked around on the internet, and didn't really find an official solution for this. My psp doesn't recognize umds normally (the motor doesn't spin), however, if i push on the back panel, it does.
If it's relevant, i lost the cover to my battery a long time ago, and i also pulled out what I thought were staples from my psp several weeks ago, but until now it had been running fine.
I've looked in other guides, and saw something about a switch that makes the psp recognize umds, but when i push mine down, nothing ever happens.(if i push on the side with the switch on it, it won't read, only when i push on the side with the laser does my psp work)
I could just continue playing while pressing on the back, but it's kinda just a pain, anyone got a solution?
