Glad to hear Microsoft aint using this to low blow the competition - well, not as harshly as they could anyways. Some people can only afford one console and it sucks for them at the moment, especially with the Easter Weekend.

Unless you bought new online focused games for it, Wanted to claim Portal 2, Wanted to watch Lovefilm, Wanted to prevent the loss of PS+ content or play any number of games that cease to function when PSN is down

well as for me I was trophy whoring my self on uncharted 2 until I got the platinum trophy, well worth my free time, well after this hiccup from sony I won't subscribe to any plus ever again unless there is something worth to get it for. maybe in not so distant future I will get a xbox 360.

I dont think Microsoft was trying to kick them while they where down. They had preplanned a free weekend and preplanned events to try and break some world records before psn even went down.
Its kinda common sense though to think those with both system that cant play 1 online will likely use the other. So Microsoft preparing for more traffic in light of planned events that would increase traffic seems like a smart idea.

Yes as if they were ever going to offer their support to sony or should the tables be reversed it's not likey sony would offer MS help. This isn't a sport it's a business, when you rivals are ont he ropes for any reason you take advantage of it, and if it measn you can stereal customers off them then aso much the better. If business worked on the basis of being fair and caring to comeptitors, there would be no mega corps and the most you could hope for would be someone maybe owning one or 2 shops in your local town as noone would want to force themselves into new areas as it may have a negative impact on other companies, and if one shop or it's owner gets to successfull they may put other people in the same business out of a job .

However as has been mentioned, this is just a coincidence that had been planned before.

thats said for the conspiracy freaks and the everyones else is to blame except sony lot, maybe MS were the ones that hacked the PSN servers to get more people to join XBL this weekend
