Having some problems with my Wii (particularly with USB Loader GX)

So my Wii has been having problems accessing my external 1T Seagate FreeAgent harddrive. For some reason it has stopped loading Metroid: Other M, Super Smash Bros, and Call of Duty Black Ops. I did some looking around and I was told I needed to update IOS36 and 38. After doing so USB Loader GX has even more trouble even loading my HDD at all. I'm afraid I screwed something up, WiiMC still finds my HDD and loads my videos and such it seems its just USB Loade GX thats messed up. Anyway my Wii is softmodded 4.2U and I'm sure if I have IOS36 installed right (if at all) cause my Multi Mod Manager has a "Install and Patch IOS36" option. Any help is appreciated, I would hate to kill my Wii just cause I don't know much about updating the IOSs and stuff.

Dammit! Now USB Loader won't even find my HDD at all! Something is very messed up...All I did was update my cIOS to Rev 21 (the newest one)

Neogamma won't even load my HDD....WiiMC still does though??? Grr this sucks

Ok, so I fixed it...turns out IOS249 Rev21 (newest one) is broke or just incompatible...I'm able to use USB Loader GX again, but still no luck with the mentioned games...if anyone else has the answer to why they still don't work I appreciate the help.

I'm currently using Hermes cIOS 222/223 but they don't seem to help, unless I'm not loading them correctly? I mean it says they are installed

Try dop-mii to get the ios:http://wiibrew.org/wiki/DOP-Mii:_WiiBrew_Edition

For hermes, I know for usb loader GX you must manually select it.

Well I used that to get the newest cIOS 202, 222, 223, and 224 (I didn't have 224 previously) and I get the same results:

Super Smash Bros. freezes when I enter story mode

Call of Duty Black Ops freezes on the loading screen

Metroid Other M freezes after pressing 2 on the title screen

Lego Batman has no sound and crashes before I get to the title screen

While it looks like my games are somehow corrupting themselves...I don't know how or why. The reason I think this is the explantion is I tried loading Lego Batman using IOS222 with no luck, I then tried loading Donkey Kong Country Returns and Tatsunoko vs Capcom with IOS222 and they worked perfectly (that rules out a problem with the IOSs). I tried Lego Batman with IOS223 and 249 as well but still nothing. I redownloaded the ISO for it and reinstalled it and it works. So I don't know if maybe my HDD being partitioned to give 150gb for my Wii and 750gb to my PC is part of the problem or not, I have looked at a compatibility list and my HDD is listed as compatible so I am very confused. Thank you for the help but it looks like I may need a new HDD.

I'm sorry but site policy is anti-pirating, you should buy your games.

Also, it might just be the hard drive thats corrupt, try backing up and reformatting it (try FAT32), then run a check on it (check the OEM if it has a utility or try chkdsk with sector check).

You can also use FAT32 with the wii.

Oh these particular games I did buy, its just that the discs were becoming scratched and I thought it'd be smart to back them up before they stop reading. Anyway, thank you for the help, I just have one last question. Does USB Loader GX play actual "game.iso" or do they need to be "game.wbfs"? I have my back ups as WBFS and was wondering if maybe they'd work better in ISO format if possible.

If it does use real ISO format games, how do I set it up to read them? Like what format should my HDD partition be?

Just put the ISO on the drive using a PC manager e.g. wii backup manager.

The drive IIRC can be either FAT32, NTFS or WBFS. Although FAT32 may be the better format if possible because it has multiple uses e.g. homebrew and NTFS is read only (unless this has changed).

I think it must have changed cause the partition I use for my computer is NTFS and it allows me to copy files to it. But I'll try both formats and see which works better. Thank you for the help

I meant read only on the Wii itself.
