Fixing the PS2 Power Switch clicker

I have a PS2 model SPCH-70012. After opening it up one day, I lost the clicker that makes it possible to turn on the PS2. I thought it was gone but today I discovered that the clicker was inside the console. Up until now I was using one of the rubber contacts from an SNES controller to turn it on but that is no longer working. It is black where the clicker was. Im thinking it got dirty and there is no longer a conductive surface anymore. I have pictures if you want/need to see it. Could I just clean it with rubbing alcohol and somehow reattach the clicker?

It depends on whether it clicks or ''squishes''

If you are handy with a soldering iron then just solder in a new push button drill a hole in the case and screw it to the front.

If it has a click switch then just connect the two leads from the switch to where the old switch was connected.

If it has a pad and squishes then you might be able to solder the pad.


Alternatively, you could get a new case or button set of ebay
