Exclamation Xbox 360 sales nearly double that of Wii's

September was another strong month for the Xbox 360

Up Up and Away, that is what the Xbox 360 is doing, as you can see from the chart, the green solid line is growing up, no peak, unlike the Wii, M$ even beating Sony!

Sept. was another record-breaking monthly sales for Microsoft and their Xbox 360, and that was before they announced the big 50 partnership TV streaming deal.

According to Pachter's estimates, Microsoft sold 360,000 Xbox 360 units in the U.S. last month, easily besting all other hardware competitors. In second place, according to Pachter, was the PlayStation 3 with 260,000 units sold. Nintendo sold 190,000 Wii units in September, Pachter estimated.

On the portable side, Pachter said he believes Nintendo sold 225,000 3DS units and 185,000 DS units in September.

If Pachter is right and Microsoft did sell the most hardware units in September, it would mark yet another successful month for the console maker. Last month, Microsoft reported that with its sales victory in August, it had sold more console units in the U.S. than any other company for 14 of the past 15 months.
The biggest problem is Nintendo, their sales figures are crashing, the FAD is over for the original Wii, all tho they are bringing out an little better improved model for this Xmas season (with no Gamecube support), but is that enough to hold onto until middle of next year when the Wii-U is launched!

it'll be interesting to see the coming sales figures in europe with the launch of the family edition at its new low price and the upcoming great exclusive games (pandoras tower, last story, zelda skyward sword) or for that matter how zelda will boost sales in the usa for november / december.

Very true, and at this point in time even if the 360 has double the sales of the Wii month to month it would still take like 5 years for it to catch up in sales.

Of course this just buries the PS3 even further into 3rd place, Sony needs to think cheap for the PS4 so they can regain some ground.

The way I look at it the wii already won this gens hardware sales (my feelings on it's games library are totally different). Manufacturers are already looking toward their next consoles already. Going back on sony's "marathon" analogy from before, ninty already crossed the finish line and is at home drinking a beer... just because ms and sony run 3 extra miles doesn't mean much. That said, I think the 360 and the ps3 still have 2 - 3 good years in them which is more than I can say for the Wii (more because ninty are looking to kill it than anything else).

I agree the Wii has had its day and its time for something fresh from Nintendo, at least if they are interested in keeping the #1 spot. I still think Microsoft and Sony could get away with some minor upgrades and call those new systems. Retain backwards compatibility and this time give true 1080P games.

Double the RAM or more (at least double it) maybe upgrade the graphics hardware a bit to 1 or 2 newer generations of hardware and you get a new system on the cheap, or at least cheaper then reworking the whole thing. I know some people would love to see more CPU out of these machines but I am not sure its really required for a game system.

It always seems to me when asked what they would like more in a games system, developers always want more RAM.

Edit: As far as the Wii's software library goes, its been a mixed bag some true gems but not nearly enough of them. Of course the same could be said of the 360 or the PS3.... Not a single one of them holds a candle to the SNES or PS2's library

i always thought that the psx had a better library than the ps2, that said, in terms of overall quality you'd be hard pushed to find a better system than the n64 from its launch with mario 64 and blastcorps to its dying embers with re2 and jet force gemini.

I am glad to see this i am a huge supporter of the 360. After all the junk Sony has done over the last 2 years with the PS3 its hard to support. Then that 200 page user agreement you had to say OK to a month ago was just a nail in the coffin for me.
