Fastest-Selling Mario Games Sends Nintendo 3DS Sales Soaring!!!



With the 'Black Friday' sales over and the dust and pepper spray settling down sales figures are starting to emerge and it looks like for the first time in a years Nintendo have dominated in the USA!

Mario 3DS became the fastest selling portable Mario Game in history shifting over 500,000 copies!

Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword shifted 535,000 copies making it the fastest selling Zelda title in history!

The 3DS went stratospheric, after a 40% sales increase last week it rocketed up by a further 325% this week taking its total sales in 8 months ahead of the 1st year sales of the original DS (2,370,000) with the biggest selling months still to come its possible it could end up with DOUBLE the original DS sales in its first year.

And finally lets not overlook the Wii which stormed the sales charts selling in excess of 500,000 units in ONE DAY.

These sales will no doubt be boosted as Mario Kart 7 (3DS) and Fortune Street (Wii) hit stores next month.

For the first year of original ds........ are they thinking of novmber and december '04 or acutaly a whole year which would end november '05?

EDIT:acording to wiki the think of the 2004 only, and launch date was november 21st only in usa and jap, and 3ds managed to sell more in whole 9 months compared to original DS-es 1,5 month....

They mean only until the end of 2004, and ds launched in europe in 2005....

It says usa,jap and other, no eur, whilist 3ds is cca 8 months more in the market in the whole world, not just usa and jap... So it's not so true that 3ds is selling more.

yea but 500,000 units since launch (11 Nov) nothing to brag, 6.5 Million in its first week is something to brag.

but to be fair i tried mario, and wasnt suprised it to be boring, i was expecting a mario game like 64 or galaxy, yet ended up been super mario brothers (without luigi).

short levels, far to easy, 3d well kinda sucks the lack of camera control to view the world in 3d, just playing the game with a fixed camera view that rotates to another fixed view point.

i would have prefared this game to be the mario games i liked, which each world level had multiple levels, but nope yet again another 3ds game completed within days.

i think its time nintendo start offering demo's of its games on the market place, to prevent me wasting money on crap, im sick of looking at 3ds game pics that look smooth and nice, yet you play the game its graphics are rough and doesnt help when playing in 3d because it gets worse.

Funny... Yesterday I was in a toy shop and Mario Kart 7 already was on the shelves! I was surprised, because afaik, this is a few days ahead of the official release. Btw. Mario World 3D is still on the shelves everywhere, so it didn't sell out in the first days. And that's not because of large stocks!

since when did any nintendo game sell out? unlike this weeks online shooter / marketplace that will shift 5+ million copies in its first week, most nintendo games shift around half a million first week then drop back but keep selling for years (hence the high prices even pre-owned) so they may on hover in the lower regions of the charts, but look at this generations top selling games and its near full of nintendo titles, that still keep selling, man with over 20miliion sales now, few if any shooters come close (maybe cod)
