Exclamation Sony: no 32gb PS Vita memory cards for Europe

Sony announced their Europe PS Vita launch details, and it is horrible compared to Japan and USA

Only 7 games available at launch in Europe and other regions, and smaller list of accesories, and worse the 'Uncharted' game title is priced at amazing 50 Euros!

Sony confirmed today that only THREE sizes of memory cards will be avilable at launch in Europe, as well as a very reduced range of accessories will be made available to those living in their largest market.

In announcing some details about the PS-Vita EU / AUS / UK launch they said...

PS Vita memory cards are available in three sizes and will be priced at the following:

    • 4Gb Memory Card - €19.99/£17.99/$26.95 AUD/$34.95 NZD
    • 8Gb Memory Card - €34.99/£31.99/$44.95 AUD/$59.95 NZD
    • 16Gb Memory Card - €49.99/£44.99/$64.95 AUD/$84.95 NZD
They also gave the prices for the rather small launch lineup of games:

    • Uncharted: Golden Abyss - €49.99/£44.99/$69.95 AUD/$89.95 NZD
    • ModNation Racers: Road Trip - €39.99/£34.99/$54.95 AUD/$69.95 NZD
    • Everybody's Golf - €39.99/£34.99/$54.95 AUD/$69.95 NZD
    • WipEout 2048 - €39.99/£34.99/$54.95 AUD/$69.95 NZD
    • Unit 13 - €39.99/£34.99/$54.95 AUD/$69.95 NZD
    • Little Deviants - €29.99/£24.99/$39.95 AUD/$54.95 NZD
    • Reality Fighters - €29.99/£24.99/$39.95 AUD/$54.95 NZD
Really? no 32gb memory cards and only 7 launch titles in their largest global market (by sales)

On the plus side, Europe owners will get six free AR play cards, and a voucher code to download 3 AR games for free, and to show off their silly 'Augmented Reality' they released the following short video!

in case you were wondering this is the accessories list ...
    • AC adaptor – €9.99/£8.99/$12.95 AUD/$16.95 NZD
    • Portable charger – €49.99/£44.99/$64.95 AUD/$84.95 NZD
    • USB cable – €9.99/£8.99/$12.95 AUD/$16.95 NZD
    • In-ear headset – €19.99/£17.99/$26.95 AUD/$34.95 NZD

so, no cradle, no cases, no screen protectors (unless you buy one of the "kits")

we now know the Xbox One's game licensing policy was written from the ground up for companies. It's aggressively anti-consumer and anti-middle class, and it outright ignores underprivileged gamers. It's gross, despicable, greedy, pathetic, cowardly and out of touch with a growing global resentment for corporations. - Polygon 7th June 2013

Yeah but why does the EU region get the 'portable charger' and 'car kit' but in USA it is planned for later (spring 2012)

well the car kit is a travel case and a car charger that you can buy separately in the usa.

the portable charger i dont know, is it a mains charger with fold down or retractable pins or some kind of add on battery pack that can be used to boost the psv's pitiful battery life?

Games @ +50.00(EUR)s' well then paint me pink and call me Mrs. Pie. I could have told you that.
There is no way I would be prepared to shell out that kind of cash for a Portable Game.
And, One that also reportedly fails to contain something as mundane and cost limited as a freaking Game Manual.

These Games need to priced between 25.00€(EUR), and let's say 39.99€(EUR), MAX!!
At that price point I'd be at least likely to consider picking One up.
But, given the choice of purchasing a new Vita Game for 50.00€(EUR), or a new PS3 Game 8for the same amount. I'd go for the PS3 option.

Then again, I'd just likely go to Gamestop and get a handfull of Games for the PS3 instead.
But given how shite the PSP was, I'm not prepared to even consider the Vita.
I'll just give it a Year (or so), to find it's legs, that is if it even has any left at this point...

Angry Sony continues the bad strategy

Well... since 1st PSP I told here in all the forums!
Sony continues to NOT RESPECT european consumers/clients!
    Always less products!
    Always more expensive!
I loved Sony ... now I hate it!

not a chance, the psv memory cards are the same size as a micro sd so any adaptor would need to be made out of the same material as the tardis to fit a micro sd into a psv adaptor

I can't say I hate Sony, I just wish the would go back just making a good systems instead of making constant firmware updates trying to add what ever it is they think will push the PS3 in sales. I thought adding features was a great idea, I thought being able to fix things was great, Sony did very little of those two and instead did cool things like Cinavia which everyone needed! Er wait no it just made everything a pain in the ass for the paying customers (hacked consoles can remove it at will or use a better 3rd party media player that supports like 20 more codecs then the PS3's stock player.)

On the lack of 32GB cards, wow and thats like the only one I would buy if I was actually considering buying a Vita. The other cards I consider too small or at least will be too small in the very near future. Also since there will not be any price drops on the cards any time soon since only Sony can make them... It only makes sense to buy the biggest one so you will not need to buy more later or more right away.

What I want to know is, lets say you buy 2 16GB cards for your brand new Vita I know Sony only will let you use those cards on your one Vita. If I buy 2 or more cards can I swap them in and out of the same Vita with no problems or is the Vita also locked into only using one card per system?

Not only that but said adapter would also require Sony's magical DRM keys/hardware (Still fuzzy on that bit myself if its just flash thats encrypted OR does it have actual hardware on the chip?)

Still a shame they just didn't use MicroSD cards like Nintendo did. At least with that you can pick up a cheap 32GB card for waayyyy less than what Sony wants for the same amount of flash...

I can get 32GB microSD for 35$ with free shipping...

Sony wants 120$ at GameStop for 32GB's....

    Yikes!

In pounds (I can't do the sign...) that would be like 22 pounds for the SD and 76 pounds for the Sony card.

yes, as many cards as you want all locked to your single system and single account. you will even be able to transfer content (saves and download crap) between them once they have been locked to your system. (and when i say your system, i mean of course the owners system)

UK must not count as Europe in this case then as I've seen the list of games for preorder at GAME here in England and there is way more than 7 games on it, 15+ or so.

Well just confirms to me that they are intent on ripping the piss out of their customers, the price of the handheld is bad enough, but £44 for a 16GB memory card, no wonder they aren't launching the 32GB on yet, even the arseholes at sony must have realise best part of £70+ would piss a good many people off, and the game prices, what a joke, practically PS3/360 prices, do they really want to get their arses handed them again by nintendo. I bt they still have the idiotic get another job to pay for it attitude, I doubt they will try that one again especially with so many people struggling to find one job let alone another to pay for an overpriced toy.
    My gaming systems -
    Consoles - Wii, Xbox 360 Elite, Xbox 360 Jtag Jasper 2TB 3.5" HDD, PS3 60GB UK launch version, PS3 hacked with 500GB 3.5" HDD (2TB wouldn't work ).

My new Next Gen Console - i7 4770k@4.7GHZ + H100i, ASRock Z87E-ITX, Gigabyte Radeon HD7970 GHZ Edition, 16GB Corsair Dominator PLATINUM 1866@2400, Crucial m4 256GB mSATA SSD, 1GB WD Caviar Black, 64GB OCZ Agility 3 SRT cache. All in a red Bitfenix Prodigy.

i have a feeling that sony scee only announced titles they are retail publishing rather than scea announcing everything they could think of in case of delays for other titles, also game will have pre-orders for games that are "launch window" titles as well as launch day ones.
