Japanese 3DS sales to hit 4 million units sold before 2012

Nikkei and Enterbrain have reported that by current sales statistics the 3DS is on track to pass the 4 Million Mark before the end of the year, and that is after knocking launching PS Vita to #2 place

Earlier this month, global Nintendo president Satoru Iwata shared expectations that the 3DS would likely hit the four million units sold mark in Japan before the end of February 2012. He would be pleased to hear that the system will reach this goal well ahead of schedule.

According to Nikkei, it could happen as soon as next week. Thus far, the 3DS has moved 3.6 million units based on Enterbrain data. Nintendo will, at the latest, sell four million 3DS units in total before the end of the year.

Thats actually impressive, I know the 3DS was closing in on 10 million sold so far but thats world wide numbers, didn't know almost 4 million of those are in Japan alone.

It's still too early to tell... LOL sorry I couldn't say that with a straight face, its all but over before it started. Sony is busy fumbling the ball and blowing the one shot they had to actually beat Nintendo in the hand held market this time.

I honestly liked the Vita's hardware, 4 core CPU, carts instead of disks, it has all the good check points to make a great portable system.

I suspect the engineering department at Sony presented them with a great system, the higher ups said, "It uses MicroSD? We could make more money if it used some custom Memory...."

Edit: Of course Sony is going to have a tough sell from day 1, I know a few PSP owners didn't feel like they got what Sony promised and they probably will have a wait and see attitude this time around.
