Ocarina of Time 3D has a storyline identical to the classic N64 version, with little quirks added in, also of course a splash of 3D!
I know its quite late, but I thought I might as well publish my OOT 3D Review. One of the Best 3DS games available? I sure think so!
On November 21, 1998 Nintendo Studios released a game which was said to 'Bring Gaming into a next generation', which it did. and now on 17th June 2011 it does it all over again but this time in 3D and in your pocket.
Whats been lost? absolutely nothing!, Nintendo managed to port the game in its entirety with a bunch of extra little quirks added in, also a splash of 3D!
Ocarina of Time 3D has a storyline identical to the classic N64 version. The protagonist Link needs to stop an evil overlord named "Gannondorf" whose plan involves evil roaming the land of Hyrule. Though Link is only a young 'Elf like' creature he will go on a quest learning about techniques and items.
Ocarina of Time 3D is all about puzzle solving and adventure but however with a 3.53 inch screen it sometimes is quite a bother having to rotate the camera frequently to get a good view of Link.
The 3D effect is easily the best available on the Nintendo 3DS, it allows you to judge the exact distance between Link and a enemy, the 3D effect is also showed off quite a lot when riding on Epona, when riding past an enemy he will 'Whiz' out of the screen right into your face.
Though is does not seem like Nintendo put a lot of effort in the games visuals it does look quite stunning (though it can be improved) the visuals are at a high when fighting bosses at the end of dungeons, you can clearly see the detail in the character models. However at most points the textures seem to be quite bland and unforgiving.
Ocarina of Time 3D controls beautifully and as responsive as the Wiimote. Link is controlled with the circle pad which is great, items are placed on 3 buttons, when in first person mode the gyro-senser allows you to move your 3DS in realtime. Targeting is placed on the L and R buttons which works perfectly.
The overall gameplay of Ocarina of Time 3D is just beautiful, the 3D version adds 'Boss Battle' a way of fighting all the bosses in the game straight after each other. The storyline is great and the gameplay is very long-lasting and perfect.
To close this review i can easily say that ocarina of time is the BEST game available on the 3DS, with over 30 hours of gameplay, a beautiful soundtrack, superb visuals and great controls mixed with the inclusion of 3D this is easily one of the best games ever made.
Our thanks to 'max1421' for his first review here on 'Maxconsole', hopefully next time he will include some screenshots, etc.!
