Exclamation GameStop drops 3DS price to $150 right before Vita launch

Are other retailers going to follow, or is this Nintendo's way to kill Vita totally!

GameStop normally never takes a price cut on hardware on their own, so alot of signs are pointing to Nintendo making the first move towards PlayStation Vita launching in the North America marketplace

Nintendo 3DS has a rough time when it first launched, just like PlayStation Vita is having now in Japan, with Nintendo outselling the Vita at times more then 8 to 1 ever week.

But can Nintendo keep up the race in being #1 in the hot North America market when Vita launches over there in a couple of weeks, while it just might be that Nintendo is going to do another price cut, not as massive as the first one but the $20 savings that GameStop is now offering on their website, just might be enough to make sure future handheld buyers pick up a 3DS over the Vita this month.

Our brief research has proven that competing mega-retailers like Amazon, Best Buy and Wal-Mart are still charging $169.99 for a new unit.

In the US Nintendo is launching a new pink unbundled 3DS system in three days, which would be a great time to reveal a shocking, last minute price cut.

Perhaps The N is letting Stop in on the new MSRP a little early, but we bet it’s only a matter of time before every US store will reflect that price.

Nintendo is playing hardball with Sony and this clearly appears to be a big move to overshadow the Vita’s upcoming launch that begins with early bundles on 2/15 and a full launch on 2/22.

I wouldn't care if you knocked it down to $100. I refuse to buy a retardedly designed handheld. And what I mean by retardedly designed is the lack of a second thumbstick. I mean seriously, who was the idiot that made that call? It proved a disaster for the PSP so you would have thought they would have known better. How the hell are you suppose to play modern games in this day and age with only one fucking thumbstick? And you all know god dam well the only reason the 3DS is doing better is because of it's price and available games. Don't get me wrong, I do plan on getting a 3DS eventually when they come out with a better design. But to me it's just plain retarded to buy one now no matter what it cost.

To be fair they could not put a second analogue stick on it as you need a stupid stylus for the shoddy little resistive screen it has. I would get one when they do an xl as the screens are rubbish for showing 3d and just look a cheap effect compared to 3d on a tv.

to be fair i dont know anyone who uses the stylus when you can just use your finger and saying a restive screen is shoddy is pretty stupid, resistive screens offer far greater accuracy that most capacitive ones, its like saying move is shoddy then comparing it to kinect, both screen types have their uses but they are different, another point about shoddy screens is that at least the 3ds screens seem to have decent quality control, whereas i've seen reports of vita screens with dead pixels and dark blotches.

To the topic, its simply a $20 off Sale for the release of the stand alone pink 3DS which is the week of Valentine's Day. I don't think Nintendo is worried about the launch of the Vita since 1) its quite a bit more expensive & 2) it hasn't exactly been well received in Japan. Granted neiter was the 3DS at first, but at the end of the day, I think Vita is going to have a ruff launch in North America just like 3DS did. There is really no reason for Nintendo to cut the price of 3DS at this stage of the game.

No resistive screens are pure rubbish only more accurate because your forced to use a stylus, they are very inaccurate without a stylus so capacitive easily win out for handheld device use and thats not only what I have read but use of 3ds,ds,dsi and some rubbish samsung windows phone years ago all absolute rubbish compared to a vita front screen and an android one too. And my kids and the other half in games have used stylus then buttons still holding the stylus. I have no idea about failure rate of vita screens as not read about it or having only one experienced it so will have to take your word then add a pinch of salt I guess lol.

And wrathchild wait as the dust on my 3ds in a draw and lack of actual titles released suggests to early to buy one.
